Seven of the top performers from Westosha Central vs Kenosha St. Joseph and Menomonee Falls vs Waukesha South on Saturday!

[player_tooltip player_id="727964" first="Jack" last="Rose"] (6’4 2022 SG, Westosha Central)- Watching Jack in fall league, you could tell there was some rust from the volleyball season. All of that appears to be gone now as Jack went off for a game high 28 points to lead his team past state ranked Kenosha St. Joseph. Even with a hand in his face, Jack was making it look effortless as he scored the ball at all three levels. So dangerous running off of screens and knocking down shots off the catch, and his release points and high arcing shot make it difficult for defenders to get a piece on his attempts. Jack was 5-10 from deep, and also pulled in 9 rebounds in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id="865843" first="Grant" last="Martin"] (6’ 2022 G, Menomonee Falls)- Grant didn’t put up huge numbers on the night, but I thought he made some solid plays on both ends of the floor throughout the game. He finished with 10 points, knocking down 2 of his 4 attempts from deep and showing smart shot selection throughout the game. Defensively he has the quickness to stick with opposing guards, and has a nice understanding of off-ball positioning to make plays. Does a nice job on the glass for a player of his size, and finished with 4 rebounds in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id="727972" first="Andrew" last="Alia"] (6’3 2022 G, Kenosha St. Joseph)- Alia faced a tough task going up against Westosha Central, and although his shot wasn’t falling as much as usual, he made some impressive defensive plays. He stepped into position to draw two charges, while also chasing down players on multiple occasions to block what they thought were open lay-ups. Andrew showed off his mid-range game as he’s able to elevate and get shots up over defenders, while also having the strength to take some contact and finish inside. Finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id="1115915" first="Tyran" last="Cook"] (6’1 2023 G, Waukesha South)- On Saturday night against Menomonee Falls, Tyran showed off that explosive athleticism that makes him so dangerous attacking the basket. If he gets a step on you he’s able to get his man pinned on his hip and just explode to the basket to finish with his left hand. In transition he has the bounce to finish above the rim, and in the half-court he’s able to go into contact and keep his balance to score. Also showed flashes of a mid-range pull-up game. He ended the game with 10 points on 5-11 shooting.

Michael Mulhollon (6’4 2022 PF, Westosha Central)- One of the unsung heroes of a loaded Westosha Central program, Michael is a grinder down low. With his emergence down low, it’s opened things up allowing [player_tooltip player_id="727964" first="Jack" last="Rose"] to guard his true position on the perimeter, whereas in the past he had to guard in the post. Michael is a strong and physical forward who’s able to clear out space with a box out, and attack the ball out of the air. He showed that as he pulled in 8 rebounds against Kenosha St. Joseph. Michael does a nice job of keeping possessions alive and finishing off put-backs, and he’s also shown some potential scoring with his back to the basket as he finished with 8 points in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id="1129756" first="Seth" last="Trimble"] (6’3 2022 PG, Menomonee Falls)- The North Carolina just continues to make things look effortless during his senior season. He scored a game high 19 points mixing in some catch-and-shoot threes and some pull-up jumpers from mid-range. With the type of elevation he gets on his shot, it’s nearly impossible for high school defenders to stop him once he gets an inch of space. I was also impressed with a couple of the passes Seth made, including a full court outlet pass that he put where only his man could get it, leading to an open lay-up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1134929" first="Devin" last="Griffin"] (6’ 2022 PG, Westosha Central)- The floor general for Westosha Central, Devin put up an efficient 9 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals in his team’s win on Saturday. He’s so calm and collected with the ball in his hands, able to get into the paint to make plays for himself and his teammates. One play that really stood out saw Devin jump up to intercept a deep pass, keep it in bounds, then go coast to coast through three defenders to finish at the rim. Although he’s a smart decision maker on the ball, he can also play off the ball and showed off a hard backdoor cut leading to a score inside. Devin is a high IQ player who’s continued to improve his skill and athleticism each season.
