Continue ReadingThe Indiana high school season is right around the corner and we at Prep Hoops Indiana will be out and about to cover nearly the entire state all season long. With the season about to start, it is now a good time as any to preview the players that will be showcasing their talents all year. Today, we take a look at a few 2024 PFs to watch for.
Mason Harvey Mason Harvey 6'7" | PF Seton Catholic | 2024 State IN – 6’6 – Seton Catholic: Out of the five PFs I have on this list, Harvey could arguably be the most versatile out of them all. Works hard in the paint like a big should but can also shoot like a shooting guard on the outside. He shot 46% from behind the arc his freshman year which is a rare achievement for a guy his size. No question in my mind, Harvey is going to eventually be one on the most sought after 2024s sooner than later.
Daniel Garza Daniel Garza 6'5" | PF Bosco Institute | 2024 IN – 6’5 – Bishop Noll: Coming into this high school season at #7 in our 2024 rankings, Garza as of right now is the number 1 ranked PF in this class. He had a huge summer for Indy Heat 15u and showed off how crafty and creative he can be in the post area. Once he fully develops that consistent outside jumper, his overall game is just going to be tough to stop at any level. Keep a close eye on this workhorse this season.
Braden Walters Braden Walters 6'6" | PF Terre Haute North | 2024 State IN – 6’5 – Linton-Stockton: Coming at number #8 in our 2024 rankings, Walters comes into this high school coming off a solid freshman year and summer. By default, his role for the Miners increases big time as he will be arguably the most relied upon player for their frontcourt. There is just a lot to like about Walters so early on in his high school career as he is physical, tough, athletic, creative, can score in a multitude of ways, and much more. Expect a big year from him.
Brayden Kanitz Brayden Kanitz 6'4" | PF Pendleton Heights | 2024 IN – 6’4 – Pendleton Heights: Kanitz is an undersized power forward that plays physical. Really took notice of him at the Indiana Top 250 where he was showing off a bunch of different things that he has in his skillset. Worked well off the ball, was crashing the glass on both ends, and was protecting the rim on defense. He is an under-the-radar player that can breakout very soon.
Justin Sims Justin Sims 6'6" | PF Chesterton | 2024 State IN – 6’4 – Chesterton: Although long term he might not be a post, Sims plays that spot very well right now. Had a pretty big summer and finished it off nicely with a few solid games at the Grit Region Finals for Prep Hoops. He is a very athletic and versatile forward that can play all over the floor almost. He is going to play a major part for what should be a good Chesterton team.
