When it comes to bigs in the in-state 2024 class, a big that I have felt has always been under-the-radar is Seton Catholic power forward Mason Harvey. At a true 6’7, Harvey plays like a modern day four with an ability to not only take advantage of his size in the paint, but stretch the floor at a high level. He is an excellent pick-and-pop 4-man and has gotten more mobile every passing game it seems like. This season, he has led the Cardinals in almost every stat averaging an outstanding 22.7 points and 13.5 rebounds a game. He has also contributed 3.0 blocks a game as well. This was a crucial season for Harvey to get noticed at the college level, and he has done about all he could to get noticed. Busy week for Harvey and Seton Catholic as they travel to Randolph Southern (2/6), start the Pioneer Conference playoffs (2/9), and travel to South Decatur (2/10).

Harvey is one of the more intriguing prospects we have in the in-state 2024 class, which is the main reason he is a part of my watch list for power forwards. He is not your traditional big that is going to bang down low as he prefers to play mostly face-up and stretch the floor, which he does at an overall high level. At 6’7, he is an excellent pick-and-pop 4-man and is getting more mobile every passing game it seems like. Defensively is where the improvements need to continue to grow but his size and length are already major advantages of his on that end. This is a crucial senior year for Harvey as colleges at all levels will be keeping a close eye on him.

Harvey has always gotten attention for being an excellent catch-and-shoot threat at 6’7″. His ability to pick-and-pop at his size alone will always turn some heads. However, at the Adidas May Classic I came away impressed with his improved mobility and athleticism. As he can continue to develop in that area his recruitment could really take a jump.

A 6’7″ pick-and-pop forward always is sure to catch some attention. Harvey was on the UA Rise Circuit with Ty Harris Elite 2024 so this will be a good chance for area college programs to catch him while he is playing closer to home. He is an excellent catch-and-shoot threat with serious range which really stretches the defense from the four-spot. Check him out this weekend at the Adidas May Classic.
