The Indiana high school season is right around the corner and we at Prep Hoops Indiana will be out and about to cover nearly the entire state all season long. With the season about to start, it is now a good time as any to preview the players that will be showcasing their talents all year. Today, we take a look at a few 2023 Cs to watch for.

[player_tooltip player_id="1042497" first="Zane" last="Doughty"] – 6’9 – Ben Davis: Doughty is a tall, physical, and tough center. Plays more like a true post that has excellent mobility and raw athleticism. Had a solid summer and recruitment seems to be at a steady pace as of right with him recently going on an unofficial visit to Purdue Fort Wayne. He is a low major/D2 player as of right now with a big opportunity to take his game to that next level this season. Keep a close eye on Doughty’s development this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id="1042499" first="Josh" last="Furst"] – 6’6 – Blackhawk Christian: I don’t think there is any player in the state that has bigger shoes to fill than [player_tooltip player_id="1042499" first="Josh" last="Furst"] this season. As the younger brother of Purdue freshman, [player_tooltip player_id="529561" first="Caleb" last="Furst"], Josh will immediately step in as the main man in the post for Blackhawk Christian. Had a solid breakout summer and displayed an excellent ability to finish with both hands around the rim. Not a whole lot of activity with his recruitment but with 2 whole seasons left of his high school career, schools are bound to start taking a look sooner than later.

[player_tooltip player_id="935744" first="James" last="Stasey"] – 6’8 – Fishers: Stasey is a traditional post that took his game up a notch this past summer. Looks to have a grown a bit too since last year and that has seemed to help his development of being a consistent presence in the post. If he continues to improve his strength and physicality, he is going to be a real problem for any team that Fishers, who should be a very good the next couple of years, faces. Intriguing prospect to watch this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="935728" first="Dylan" last="Watson"] – 6’9 – Castle: Watson is a big post that takes up a ton of space in the paint. Very interesting skillset as he cannot only use his body to finish around the rim but can also stretch the floor a little bit too. He is a multisport athlete with both football and basketball so not for sure which sport he wants to continue to paly at the next level. He is going to provide options for Castle this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049165" first="Jacob" last="Cherry"] – 6’9 – Eastern-Pekin: Cherry is a versatile big with a good amount of skill on both ends. His overall game took a major step forward this past summer which got him inside our top 40 in the 2023 rankings. Adding strength right now is the main improvement we are wanting to see but he is already a very efficient finisher and rim protector. Lot of upside in Cherry and is one to watch this fall as he should continue to impress.
