3 Takeaways: Curie vs De La Salle

<p>Curie took care of business on the road capturing a 55-38 win over De La Salle on Tuesday night.  We looked at the game in our <strong>3 Takeaways: Curie vs De La Salle.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Physical Front Line for Curie Dominate on Both Ends</strong></p> <p>Ton of big men in this game with futures at the college level.  For Curie it was their 2023 duo of [player_tooltip player_id="1148119" first="Jeremy" last="Harrington"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1056104" first="Chikasi" last="Ofoma"] that brought their lunch pail mentality just like they always do.  Love watching these two physical power forwards play as they bring energy and tenacity on both ends.  Securing rebounds, getting points in the paint, and being defensive anchors swatting shots along with intimidating inside.  Harrington had 10 points.  Ofoma finished with 6 points.  Their impact was much larger than the point totals.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Sleeper Senior and Standout Sophomore Shine in Curie Backcourt</strong></p> <p>In the backcourt their defensive intensity was there as well.  Top 15 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1157211" first="Carlos" last="Harris"] had a monster first quarter scoring nine of his 11 points in the opening stanza.  Strong and physical combo guard that loves to get out in transition and play off his defense.  Senior combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="1049088" first="Phoenix" last="Bullock"] is the veteran presence of this group.  Slick handling guard that gets where he wants off the bounce for scores in the paint.  Also a capable shooter who went for 13 points.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>De La Salle Has Pieces to Contend But Have to Come Together</strong></p> <p>The Meteors have the talent to be in contention for a CCL crown at the end of the year, but they have to come together to play as a unit.  They were a bit all over the place with sloppy offense and bad shots.  The guard play wasn’t what we were expecting it to be in this contest.  Bright spot was unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id="1049056" first="Caleb" last="Jenkins"] continues to impress by using his energy on the glass for second chance points along with displaying touch in the paint.  [player_tooltip player_id="1113514" first="Evan" last="Jackson"] is maybe the most intriguing long term prospect on the team.  The 2023 lanky forward hit a pair of feathery jumpers along with getting to the hoop for a runner going for 9 points.</p>
