Prep Hoops Indiana hosted our annual Freshman Showcase on Saturday featuring over 150 of the best prospects in the Class of 2025. This was a great opportunity to see a bunch of guys as they head into their first season of high school basketball. Here, we take a look and evaluate the players that make up Team 11.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297121" first="Ty" last="Brown"] - 5’10" Guard - South Spencer

Brown is a tough guard who uses his strength and his quickness to make plays. He is strong with the ball in his hands, and he showed some nice touch on a floater inside. Brown also looks to push it up the floor every time he touches it. He is quick and knows how to lead the fastbreak.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297110" first="Sam" last="Higgins"] - 6’3" Wing - Floyd Central

Higgins is a good-sized wing who made some good cuts to the hole and absorbed contact on the inside to finish strong. He looked to have a fairly good shot stroke as well, but they just weren’t falling well for him on Saturday. Sam also looks to grab rebounds and push it up the floor quickly. It was a pretty good outing overall.

[player_tooltip player_id="1296975" first="Anthony" last="Holmes"] - 6’4" Wing - Gary West

Holmes is a big wing with lots of length, and he knows how to use his long and lanky frame very well. He dominates the glass on both ends of the floor with his aggressiveness, and his offensive rebounding led to several putbacks on the inside. Holmes also looks to push immediately when he grabs a board on the defensive glass. Look for Holmes to make an impact for Gary West in the near future.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297079" first="Landon" last="Lybarger"] - 5’9" Guard - Heritage

Lybarger is an undersized guard who made his living on Saturday as a cutter. He sees the floor very well and knows how to find his spaces. He didn’t show as much in terms of scoring the ball, but he made some high IQ plays. I am definitely looking forward to seeing him play more in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297071" first="Kam" last="Radeker"] - 5’8" Guard - Northridge

Radeker is a smaller point guard who uses his creativity really well. He sees the court pretty well and seemed to always make the right passes. He wasn’t the biggest threat to score it from the outside, but he did hit one from the outside during the showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297119" first="Tucker" last="Simpson"] - 6’1" Guard - Bloomington South

Simpson is a good-sized guard who shot the ball well in his final game of the day on Saturday. He has a nice pull-up jump shot, and he can finish through contact in the lane. His outside shots weren’t falling early on in the day, but he got hot in the final game, and when his confidence grew, he became a very tough player to stop.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297042" first="Jack" last="Smiley"] - 6’1" Guard - Valparaiso

Smiley is a southpaw guard with good size and a basketball IQ that is pretty much off the charts. He is a fundamental point guard who knows exactly what needs to be done with the ball in his hands. He has smooth handles and can finish both strong and with touch on the inside. He also showed off a good shooting stroke and a silky smooth step-back jumper. Look for Smiley to make a name for himself in the 2025 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297116" first="Taye" last="Spears"] - 5’10" Guard - Bloomington South

Spears is a tough guard who struggled at times by trying to do too much. He knows how to make plays, and he did really well when he took his time and slowed down. However, he did have a couple of turnovers from going too fast and getting out of control. I did see several bright spots in Spears’ game over the weekend, but when he has a chance to gain experience, he should be much improved.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297057" first="Jaymen" last="Townsend"] - 6’5" Wing - Marion

Townsend is a big wing who can score it in so many different ways. He is a confident scorer who can take it strong to the hole and knock it down from deep as well. His footwork also was very impressive in the paint. He showed off a good drop-step inside, and he isn’t afraid to put it on the floor to get to the hole. Townsend also threw down some big dunks to get the gym up and on their feet. He is going to be a fun player to watch develop in the years to come.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297043" first="Jack" last="Turner"] - 6’4" Wing - Southport

Turner is a big post player on the inside whose footwork is impressive at this level. He showed some good post moves and nice touch around the rim. Turner also had a knack for knowing exactly when to attack a mismatch on the inside. If he is going to improve his game in a major way if he can develop a jump shot in the coming year.
