We had tons of JUCO Jamboree action over the weekend. I made the trip to Elgin Spartan Jamboree. Another event packed full of talent and former prospects from the state. Here were my Illinois standouts from the Elgin Spartan Jamboree!

[player_tooltip player_id="921008" first="Anthony" last="Taylor"]. 6’7 G Moraine Valley (Richards) Freshman

I like how Taylor took advantage of mismatches within the offense. He is a much taller guard and his skillset is as solid as they come. Anthony looked smooth on drives to the rim while showing some athleticism in the process. I can see some smaller D1 schools taking a look his way.

Trevon Jones 6’4 F Moraine Valley (Richards) Freshman

Jones is still a under the rim post player. He just has a knack of putting his body on guys and moving them under the basket. At his size that’s even more remarkable at the college level. Trevon rebounds well and shows great box out technique. Four year school looking for toughness here is your guy.

Christian Roberts 6’0 Kankakee CC (Morgan Park) Sophomore

Still one of the fastest and most athletic players on the court with the ball in his hands. Roberts was at his best by being in help side defense and getting steals then turning them into easy points because he just out runs teams trying to steal the ball from him. Chris has the title of "One man fast break" but since being in college he has added the mid-range fade away as a staple into his game. Once he learns with more reps at the PG position he is a low D1 player for sure.

Xavier Spencer 6’0 Morton C.C (Proviso East) Freshman

The toughness that Xavier and his brother (Devin) brings to this team are beyond words. Xavier picks up 94 feet majority of the game and caused tons of miscues and turnovers for his team. He has quick hands which led to some steals and transition buckets. On offense he made shots from different spots on the perimeter when off the ball. As the primary handler he set guys up with dribble penetration.

Devin Spencer 6’1 Morton C.C (Proviso East) Sophomore

Just like brother (Xavier) Devin is a ball hawk and gets after it on defense. He did his share of speeding up teams with his pressure. What I like most about Devin was how high his IQ was. He saw the floor very well hitting players wide open under the rim several times. Devin has a very tone physical appearance, but he moves so fluid and can get to the rim off one or two dribble combinations. Another aspect of his game that stood out was his shot making and selection. Devin made open shots when available as well as getting better shots if defenders crowded him. Any school needing a superb PG should be seeing Morton this season.

JR Cison 5’10 Morton C.C (Lake Zurich) Freshman

Catching Cison play on the college level is still a sight to see. He did a very good job playing opposite of wing [player_tooltip player_id="1049508" first="Matas" last="Deksnys"]. Any time JR broke guys down with his crafty moves he found Deksnys with his hands ready for a shot. Cison played well with Morton’s second squad providing a spark every time he got on the court. JR would go on his own scoring run where he hit pull up jumpers in the lane, then he got to the rim and scored off an acrobatic layup that he was fouled on. Cison is a smaller guard but plays with big heart.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049508" first="Matas" last="Deksnys"] 6’7 Morton C.C (Lockport) Freshman

Deksnys is a long and agile wing who is known for making shots. He played very well when paired with Cison. Matas does a good job at finding open spots on the court often sliding to the corner having his hands ready to catch and shoot. Matas’ length on defense helps him recover from distances on closeouts and also on the boards.

[player_tooltip player_id="817676" first="Aaron" last="Tims"] 6’7 Spoon River CC (Hinsdale South) Sophomore

Tims didn’t look as active as he did a week prior in Danville but he was still very effective. The stretch four man showed his shooting touch from three. Aaron did a little bit of everything last week besides shoot from three. Tims can become a very effective LM - D2 prospect

[player_tooltip player_id="920947" first="Kimahri" last="Wilson"] 6’0 Trition CC (North Chicago) Freshman

The only Illinois prospect on a loaded squad. Kimahri is a tone changer for Triton. He has the ball on a string which keeps defenders off balance. His touch around the rim and vision to get teammates involved sets him apart from the other guards. Wilson scored off tough layups and a couple three pointers. His biggest impact was locking down the best player on other teams. Kimahri has a tremendous effect on the game that D1 coaches will notice in the next 2 years.

Jordan Wilkins 6’1 Elgin CC (West Chicago) Sophomore

Maybe the most surprising performance of the day was Wilkins. He had the biggest task of keeping the score close in what started out to be a lopsided game. Jordan ran off early in the first half moving well off the ball and scoring in catch and shoot situations. By the second half he was on the ball more and Wilkins went four straight possessions hitting three pointers. All from the tempo picking up. The best he could do was get the lead down to 7 points. He has a solid handle and was able to break Triton’s press break a couple times. 4 year small school would be ideal for Jordan.
