The PH Rankings have been updated. We continue to work our way through the positional rankings. Here we’ll dive into a deep, and quality group at the small forward position. While they have been positioned as small forwards, there’s the possibility they could play other positions with their high school teams because of their size, and where they fit best.

[player_tooltip player_id="950886" first="Tyler" last="Harris"] 6’6 of Salesian Prep HS.

Harris has been steadily rising as he’s at the top in this 2023 NorCal class. He’s had a productive spring, and summer playing on the Adidas Gauntlet Circuit. He’s always had point guard tendencies since entering high school. At 6’6 he’s become a versatile point forward with an expanded set of skills that could see him rise on the national level. He has multiple DI offers and will be playing for one of the top programs in NorCal.

[player_tooltip player_id="950938" first="Derek" last="Sangster"] 6’7 of Archbishop Mitty HS.

Sangster continues his rise as a next level basketball player. The wiry forward played a key role in helping the Monarchs to the CCS Open Title. He’ll be the top player on a young team. He had a productive spring, and summer playing against top level competition in the EYBL 16U. At 6’7 he's shown improvement in his handles, perimeter shooting, and passing. He’s getting stronger, and runs the court better. We should see an expanded post presence along with more rebounds. He has multiple DI offers.

[player_tooltip player_id="950789" first="Kodey" last="Weary"] 6’6 of Edison, HS Stockton, CA.

Weary is starting to find his strengths as a player. The square shouldered forward has some tools to work with. In the post area at this level he’s showing he can be hard to guard with his length, and bounce around the rim. His short jumper out to the elbow goes in. He moves well enough to defend in the post, and out to the perimeter. He works the boards as well as any player in our area. Probably needs to be more assertive on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id="950892" first="George" last="Gale"] 6’7 of Branson HS

Gale is a player to keep an eye on. He has a good inside/out game with good foot work, and length to score in the post. He probably prefers playing on the perimeter where he can hit the corner, and wing 3-pointers. He’ll get rebounds, and show his ball handling in transition, he’s a solid passer. He’s has long strides sprinting the court, and will finish.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255631" first="Billy" last="Haggerty"] 6’7 of De La Salle HS.

A long versatile player with an improving set of wing skills. He does a good job of filling the lanes in transition. He has a good mid-range jumper, and moves well cutting and slashing without the ball. He has the size and length to get his fair share of rebounds, and he has good long arms to effect shots on the perimeter. We should see more production from him this season with more court time. He played on the UA Circuit this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255921" first="AJ" last="Harris"] 6’4 of Piedmont HS

Harris is looking to have a breakout season, he’ll get more touches this season, which means his numbers should go up across the board. He contributed 13.2 pts, and 6.2 rebounds in 16 high school games, and was the third leading scorer on the team. Harris has a multi skill set, with a solid body that can handle the contact in the paint. He has decent handles, and passing skills with the savvy to get his shots off. He can hit the jumpers as well.
