2022 Roster

The Philly Public League is well represented in on this roster, featuring the trio from MCS - [player_tooltip player_id="991197" first="Jaheim" last="Bethea"] (6’2 G), [player_tooltip player_id="991322" first="Trent" last="Middleton"] (6’3 G), and [player_tooltip player_id="991199" first="Khalif" last="Crawley"] Jr (6’9 F/C). This is a great opportunity for [player_tooltip player_id="991231" first="Jacob" last="Beccles"] (6’3 G Constitution) and [player_tooltip player_id="1200787" first="Denzel" last="Figueroa"] (6’5 F Carver) to test their metals against and alongside other top tier players from the area. Catholic League stalwarts [player_tooltip player_id="991202" first="Justin" last="Moore"] (6’2 G Archbishop Wood/Drexel commit), [player_tooltip player_id="991324" first="Luke" last="Boyd"] (6’1 G Archbishop Ryan) and [player_tooltip player_id="991316" first="Masud" last="Stewart"] (6’1 G Neumann-Goretti) round out the backcourt. Fresh off his pledge to Florida St, Jeremiah Bembry (6’6 G/W Executive Education), Rider commit [player_tooltip player_id="1287322" first="Mo" last="Abdullah"] (6’4 G/W Imhotep), and [player_tooltip player_id="991275" first="Shakur" last="Smith"] (6’4 W Bonner-Prendie) are going to be a versatile piece on both ends of the floor for this team. [player_tooltip player_id="991210" first="Nasir" last="Griffin"] (6’7 F West Catholic) rounds out the senior frontcourt and will certainly create some mismatches.

Team Strength: Ball movement. This roster is loaded with creative passers in Bethea, Bembry, Crawley Jr, Griffin, and Moore, who can get the ball to play finishers like Beccles, Middleton, Smith and back to Griffin. Stewart, Smith, Bembry, Figueroa, and Griffin are all elite defenders who will cause fits for the 2023 offense. Not to mention, Boyd, Stewart, Moore, Abdullah, and Beccles offer an arsenal of floor spacing.

2023 Roster

[player_tooltip player_id="1121735" first="Adam" last=""Budd" Clark"] (5’9 G West Catholic), Saleem Payne Jr. (5’11 G Phelps). and Zaki Alston (6’1 G Sankofa) will play alongside the consensus top two point guards in Philly in [player_tooltip player_id="991339" first="Rahmir" last="Barno"] (5’11 G Imhotep) and [player_tooltip player_id="991334" first="Xzayvier" last="Brown"] (6’1 G Roman Catholic), and won’t look a hair out of place. Jaden Rogers (6’3 G Middletown, DE) is going to put on for the 1st state in the City of Brotherly Love, while Kyle Jones Jr (6’3 G Father Judge) and [player_tooltip player_id="991381" first="Shemar" last="Wilbank-Acqui"] aka "Whop" (6’3 G West Catholic) provide some size in the 2023 backcourt. [player_tooltip player_id="991341" first="Justin" last="Edwards"] (6’7 W Imhotep), [player_tooltip player_id="1279636" first="Basil" last="Laster"] (6’4 W Archbishop Wood), and [player_tooltip player_id="1121734" first="Zion" last="Stanford"] (6’5 W West Catholic) are different styles of wings that will be effective vs the 2022s. Moustapha Sanoh (6’10 C Executive Education, PA) is tasked with holding down the front line.

Team Strengths: Advantage Creation. This roster and class overall are loaded with high caliber players like Edwards, Barno, Brown, Clark, Rogers, Payne and Jones Jr are all capable of getting two feet in the paint and pressuring the rim, which will passing windows for shooters and cutters. Whether it’s Budd, Rahmir, Basil or Zion, the 2023s have good point-of-attack defenders with Moustapha protecting the rim.

2024

This may be the most talented roster at the event, pound-for-pound, and I’m sure spectators would love to see them play the 2022s as well. Expect Isaiah Hynson (6’3 G Salesianum), another Delaware standout, to be one of the primary ball-handlers. Him plus [player_tooltip player_id="1281786" first="Ahmad" last="Nowell"] (6’1 G Imhotep) and [player_tooltip player_id="1192641" first="Darren" last="Williams"] (6’2 G Archbishop Ryan) give the 2024s three big guards. [player_tooltip player_id="1189096" first="Jalil" last="Bethea"] and [player_tooltip player_id="991421" first="Ryan" last="Williams"] can play either guard spot, with [player_tooltip player_id="1123894" first="Jayden" last="Robinson"] (6’4 W/F West Catholic) and [player_tooltip player_id="1123887" first="Amir" last="Speights"] (6’4 W Cardinal O’Hara) on the wing. [player_tooltip player_id="1116025" first="Touri" last="“Deuce” Ketner"] (6’6 F Bonner-Prendie) is going to play a key role in the team’s success. [player_tooltip player_id="1281772" first="Tristen" last="Guillouette"] (6’10 C St. Joe’s Prep, PA) and [player_tooltip player_id="1213553" first="Thomas" last="Sorber"] offer a ton of skill to go along with their size.

Team Strengths: Offensive Fire Power. The 2024s can score at all three levels, starting upfront with points in the paint from Thomas and Tristen. Ahmad, Isaiah, and Darren can initiate offense, while Ryan, Amir and Jalil should be able to score in bunches off-ball, especially from deep.

2025

Philly hoops fans are going to learn a lot about this freshman squad. Though their teams participated in the Live Period and Fall basketball events, many of them weren’t contributors or rotation players on varsity. So spectators at the event will get a good look at this crop of up & coming players. Don’t be surprised if [player_tooltip player_id="1188621" first="Olin" last="Chamberlain"] Jr (6’0 G St. Joe’s Prep) and [player_tooltip player_id="1136565" first="Jake" last="West"] (5’8 G Archbishop Carroll) steady the offense together with Jude Holt (6’0 G Cherokee, NJ) and Naseem Perez (5’9 G West Catholic). [player_tooltip player_id="1197611" first="KJ" last="Cochran"] (6’3 G West Chester East), [player_tooltip player_id="1188627" first="Milan" last="Dean"] Jr (6’3 W Archbishop Wood), and Cameron Wallace (6’2 G Great Valley) will man the other positions on the wing. And Burrs teammates Jaden Banner (6’5 F West Catholic) and Isaac Cole aka "Ice" (6’6 F West Catholic) look to control the glass.

Team Strength: Transition and Team Speed. What this roster lacks in top end size it makes up for in athleticism. At any given time, no matter what lineup they have on the floor, they’ll be able to get out and run against this 2024 team. Milan Jr, Cameron, and Jaden should be able to do some damage in the fullcourt. If their guys like Jake, Olin and Naseem can beat their man, Paul, Isaac and others can get open for high percentage buckets.
