2021 Arizona Top 250 Showcase Standouts: Point Guards

<p>Arizona’s top 250 showcase took place over the weekend here in Gilbert. Strong frame helped him finish through contact and also has a sweet jumper. Loves the big lights, performed well in matchups with [player_tooltip player_id="1306039" first="Anthony" last="Garcia"] and Tristan Walters.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1225557" first="Triston" last="Walters"] 2023</p> <p>Another pg with a strong build and a creative shot-maker. Has a nice mid-range game off the pull-up or step-back jump shots. Can score in bunches and often times made it look easy. More of a scoring pg but does possess great vision to find teammates when they’re open. Started slow but when he got going he played well. Able to stop on a dime and change direction with a nasty crossover dribble. A good on-ball defender and highly competitive. He came alive in the second half against [player_tooltip player_id="814039" first="Mark" last="Brown Jr"].</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1306040" first="Hayden" last="Maynard"] 2025</p> <p>A coach’s kid with a high basketball IQ and a fearless mentality. Has a decent handle and can definitely shoot the lights out with range! Got teammates open looks off his penetration. Very selfless, often passing up shots to give teammates better looks. When he becomes more aggressive offensively Maynard is going to be a problem. A pesky defender and a natural leader. Looking forward to tracking his progress.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1306005" first="Cameron" last="Kroeger"] 2024</p> <p>A thin frame but tough as nails! Plays at his own pace and is always under control. He was an assassin from deep, whether a clean look or hands in his face. A willing passer that makes the right play. A below-average defender due to his stature but as his body matures I believe he can improve on the defensive end.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1306033" first="Samuel" last="Chabala"] 2023</p> <p>Cerebral floor general with crazy athleticism which was put on display with a fast break two-handed slam. Can finish at the rim amongst the trees and has a decent jump shot. Played on a stacked team at the showcase but did not get overshadowed. A very savvy player whose tenacity and energy was contagious and his teammates fed off of it. Can score with the best of them and is a sniper from long range! Very crafty and never seems rushed. In total control while he’s on the court and he dictates the tempo of the game. Shaw is a special talent with big upside.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1194767" first="Jake" last="Miller"] 2024</p> <p>It’s a pleasure to watch [player_tooltip player_id="1194767" first="Jake" last="Miller"] play basketball because he plays the game the right way. A pass first point guard but has a knack for coming through with a timely bucket. Plays passing lanes well and has excellent anticipation on defense. Not easily intimidated and the big moments never seemed to big for Miller. </p>
