THE FAVORITE -- Pewaukee

The defending Division 2 state champions reload with their top four scorers back from last season’s squad. [player_tooltip player_id="953944" first="Milan" last="Momcilovic"] (16.7 ppg) won Confernece Player of the Year honors as a sophomore and remains the state’s top ranked prospect in the 2023 class. The Pirates have three other players who lead them in scoring on any given night -- Michigan Tech commit [player_tooltip player_id="801168" first="Josh" last="Terrian"] (14.4 ppg), Hillsdale commit [player_tooltip player_id="761419" first="Ashton" last="Janowski"] (13.1 ppg) and sophomore wing [player_tooltip player_id="1089682" first="Nick" last="Janowski"] (10.6 ppg), a top three prospect in the 2024 class.

TOP CONTENDER - Wisconsin Lutheran

The Vikings were 10-2 in league play last season. Both Woodland West losses came against Pewaukee, including one by just a point. The Pirates also upended Wisconsin Lutheran in the sectional finals as well. Leading scorer [player_tooltip player_id="951467" first="Prentice" last="Young"] (13.7 ppg) is back while sophomore sniper [player_tooltip player_id="1142123" first="Kon" last="Knueppel"] (10.8 ppg) is poised for a big season. The Vikings have a couple of under the radar guards who can really score it as well, including [player_tooltip player_id="1089725" first="Jordan" last="Glenn"] (10.2 ppg) and [player_tooltip player_id="1012675" first="Jamiir" last="Allen"] (6.6 ppg). Junior [player_tooltip player_id="963145" first="Landon" last="Key"] (6.2 ppg) also upgrades the Vikings defensively and gives them plenty of versatility.

DARK HORSE - West Allis Central

The Bulldogs have a two-headed monster in Northern Michigan commit [player_tooltip player_id="761411" first="Najashi" last="Tolefree"] (19.1 ppg) and Air Force commit [player_tooltip player_id="988976" first="Greyson" last="Pritzl"] (17.0 ppg). Central was tied for third place in the league a year ago and finished 14-9 overall.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR - [player_tooltip player_id="953944" first="Milan" last="Momcilovic"]

The reigning player of the year, Momcilovic averaged 16.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore. A versatile mismatch nightmare, Momcilovic shot 58.5 percent from the field, including an even 50.0 percent from downtown as a 6-foot-9 forward.

BREAKOUT PLAYER - [player_tooltip player_id="1142123" first="Kon" last="Knueppel"]

Knueppel averaged just shy of 11 points per game as a freshman. The sweet-shooting wing can fill it up from deep and score from all three levels. He's also the type of prospect that can lead a team in assists and rebounds on any given night.

SURPRISE PLAYER - [player_tooltip player_id="1200544" first="Josiah" last="Gille"]

One of the better x-factors in the state, Gille is a relentless forward that provides a spark with tenacious effort and a motor that doesn't quit. The 6-foot-4 forward is a junkyard dog that battles under the rim, runs the floor hard, and imposes his will on opponents. May not always score a ton of points, but Gille's presence is certainly felt whenever he steps on the floor.
