Who were some of the new names that caught our eye this weekend at the Prep Hoops Illinois Top 250 Camp? These are the ones that made a name in my eyes in Prep Hoops Illinois Top 250 Camp: New Names Emerge Pt 1!

[player_tooltip player_id="1295568" first="Marvin" last="Lingan"] (Sandburg – 2023)

This 5’8” junior from Sandburg was absolutely stellar shooting the basketball in our viewing of him on Sunday. Drained three after three along with connecting on several pull up twos. Point guard with some quickness and flair.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295500" first="Jerl" last="Allen"] (Oswego – 2023)

Allen is a 6’4” rangy and projectable junior wing. Has the frame to continue to add strength. Runs the floor with fluidity. Likes playing in the open floor for transition scores. Capable three point shooter and had a couple slick passes.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295637" first="Roman" last="Shelton"] (Bolingbrook – 2024)

Shelton is a strong bodied 6’0” point guard that is built like some of the past Raiders guards that have been successful. Loves to play bully ball going downhill for scores and is a decent shooter as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295654" first="Gio" last="Williams"] (Evanston – 2023)

This 6’1” junior caught our attention on Sunday with his all out attacking mindset. He was assertive with the rock going to the hoop while also shooting well on threes and a slick mid-range step back.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295578" first="Anthony" last="Nava"] (Joliet Central – 2022)

Nava is a smaller guard at only 5’4”, but the kid can go! Shifty ball handler that is a playmaker with the ball especially in the open floor where he made plays throughout the day.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295651" first="Taris" last="Ellison"] (Walther Christian Academy – 2023)

This 6’2” power wing played with a high motor and that showed through in his production. One of his best plays was when he used his athleticism on a high/low seal for a bucket inside.

Terrance Jones (Longwood – 2022)

Jones was a breakout performer. The 6’1” shooting guard is a lefty that can fill it up with his mid-range game. Drained them for days pulling up. Can stretch it to three, but was a bit more streaky from there. Like the athleticism getting on the glass for put backs. Defensively he swatted a perimeter jumper and took it the other way for a finish.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295609" first="Evan" last="Hackney"] (West Aurora – 2024)

This West Aurora 6’2” off guard did most of his damage in the paint. Got on the offensive glass, quick moves with a couple power dribbles, and finished passes around the hoop.

[player_tooltip player_id="1231683" first="Dylan" last="Murphy"] (Columbia – 2023)

Really liked what we saw from this 6’5” four man. Good size and build. Can put it on the deck. Gets out in transition. Mobile post that brings an inside/outside game to the table. One to watch from the 618!

[player_tooltip player_id="1295648" first="Dj" last="Adams"] (Peoria Manual – 2023)

Adams was a force to start the game we caught of his. The Manual 5’10” point guard was active on the defensive end getting up in this opponent’s grill. He is a slick ball handler that won off the bounce and can dish it off for dimes around the hoop.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295532" first="Romello" last="Ali"] (TF South – 2023)

Another solid perimeter defender was this 6’1” guard. He played with intensity and a high-motor on that end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295551" first="Ibrahim" last="Elagha"] (Bolingbrook – 2024)

This Bolingbrook 2024 guard stands at about 5’11” with the ability to knock down shots with consistency as he drained an array of threes and also dished the rock with some flair.
