The Prep Hoops Circuit was a massive success in its third season. It allowed prospects from the state of Illinois to compete against high level competition from around the country and play in front of college coaches while gaining tons of media exposure. Time for us to unveil our All-Class Teams for the state. To be eligible for these prospects must have played in a minimum of two PHC events. Here is the Prep Hoops Circuit: Unsigned Senior/Reclass All-Illinois Team!

1st Team

[player_tooltip player_id="1152903" first="Amar" last="Augillard"] (Young & Reckless)

The MVP of the Unsigned Senior/Reclass team is Augillard. The incredibly underrecruited prospect from Zion Benton was the #14 prospect in the 2021 class, but still didn’t have a commitable offer after his senior year. Augillard was completely dominant with the way he attacked defenses downhill, shot it from three, and skied above the rim for monster dunks. He committed to D1 Georgia Southern after the circuit.

[player_tooltip player_id="765217" first="KJ" last="Debrick"] (Illinois Hoopstars)

Debrick was another highly ranked prep player that coming into the spring it looked like he would go the prep route. He is a traditional five man with a wide body that mauls on the interior. The Springfield Lanphier product did just that all summer as he was a force with his post scoring, rebounding, and defense. He decided to attend John A Logan CC for a year of development before he most likely ends up at a D1.

[player_tooltip player_id="995969" first="Bennie" last="Slater"] (Illini Magic)

Slater also held a lofty ranking of #35 coming into the spring with the Illini Magic, but despite that was only really getting recruited by one JUCO. By the end of the spring he became one of the more coveted available high school JUCO prospects on the board with his elite playmaking as a point forward that can flat out dish the rock along with explosive finishes. He is headed to Southwestern Illinois next season and is a no doubt D1 talent.

[player_tooltip player_id="1152911" first="Chaz" last="Harvey"] (RISE)

Harvey out of Brooks High School in the CPS emerged late during his senior season. He took it to a whole different level this spring and summer for RISE. Silky smooth combo guard that is a straight bucket getter. Scored effectively from all three levels and has that “microwave” ability to heat up fast. Will go prep next season and should end up at a D1 after.

[player_tooltip player_id="1105735" first="Freddie" last="Cooper"] (Illinois Hoopstars)

Cooper was insanely underrated by us in our final rankings. He would have moved easily into the top 50 if we did a post summer ranking. The Corliss guard was an explosive and wiry scoring guard that did it at a super high level all spring. Type of player that greatly benefits from an extra few months of travel team ball.

2nd Team

[player_tooltip player_id="821763" first="Jakobi" last="Heady"] (God’s Gift)

Heady is a long and lanky small forward who shined with God’s Gift in the spring before committing to Wabash Valley. The Hillcrest star lived up to his #16 final ranking including several massive scoring outbursts. What you have to love about him is the ease which he gets points from multiple levels.

[player_tooltip player_id="920991" first="James" last="Ogrodnik"] (EBA Ice)

Ogrodnik will head prep next season and the former Lincoln Way East star had a strong spring and summer for EBA Ice. The face up four can stretch the floor with his shooting and brings versatility to play inside and outside.

[player_tooltip player_id="921009" first="Devon" last="Ellis"] (Team NLP)

Ellis had a productive high school career. Big bodied wing that can score from multiple levels. He did that with Team NLP throughout the spring and summer posting 20+ point performances on the regular. He will attend Link Year Prep.

Mike Erbeck (Illinois Stars)

Wow can this kid shoot the rock! Erbeck had an outstanding spring for the Illinois Stars with the way he shot the basketball. He had several games where he was absolutely unconscious from beyond the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="920942" first="Grant" last="Newell"] (Mac Irvin Fire/Young & Reckless)

Newell is a prospect that has been a ranked player for several years, but it wasn’t until this spring and summer he started to fully realize his potential. Skilled face up four started to bring the motor and that changed absolutely everything in his game as his points, rebounds, and blocks sky rocketed.

3rd Team

Justin Banks (Team NLP/All In Athletics)

The Schaumburg native attended Oak Hill in Virginia and will do another year of prep this upcoming season. We really liked what we saw out of the strong and skilled forward as a shooter, post scorer, and rebounder

[player_tooltip player_id="920945" first="Jaehshon" last="Thomas"] (Young & Reckless)

Thomas from Whitney Young has been toward the top of his class in the point guard rankings ever since his sophomore season. He didn’t get to fully showcase where his game is at this past season in a short year. Strong bodied point guard that can score from multiple levels and brings toughness. Will be doing a prep year at Spire this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1152908" first="Biggie" last="Luster"] (Illinois Elite)

Mr. Big Shot! This lefty shooting guard with a wiry frame takes and makes big shots on a regular basis. Skilled scorer that can break a defense down off the bounce along with bomb in deep threes. He is headed to Clarke University!

[player_tooltip player_id="920971" first="Phillip" last="Berryhill"] (Bstrong Monsters Inc)

Berryhill started to reach into his bag of untapped potential this spring and put together a strong campaign. Former Curie standout is a long and rangy wing that can defend and when assertive be a factor offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id="1105727" first="AJ" last="Wells"] (A3 Athletics)

Loved what we saw out of Wells in the spring. Big and physical post that rebounds at a high rate, defends, and throws down thunderous jams. Imposing presence on the interior opened eyes in the spring!

Honorable Mention

AJ Williams (South Cook Jaguars)

[player_tooltip player_id="1230473" first="Jabar" last="Wheatley"] (The Work Foundation)

[player_tooltip player_id="821756" first="Jeffrey" last="Oakley"] (Illinois Hoopstars)

Jerry Abushanab (Team Rose)

[player_tooltip player_id="821734" first="Jaiden" last="Lee"] (Young & Reckless)

[player_tooltip player_id="1105722" first="Troy" last="Glover"] (Young & Reckless)

[player_tooltip player_id="1105737" first="Nick" last="Pierre"] (Full Package)

[player_tooltip player_id="652731" first="Ola" last="Ajiboye"] (Full Package)

Gabriel Wright (All In Athletics)
