Lorenzen, a talented 6-6 combo forward, played in just 11 games last year due to injury, but he was extremely productive when he was on the floor for the Pioneers, averaging 7.7 rebounds to go with his 23.6 points a game. He has the ability to stretch the floor with a smooth stroke, post up smaller defenders, and take bigger defenders off the dribble and finish at the rim.
2.) 2022 Tanner Te Slaa Tanner Te Slaa 6'5" | SF Boyden-Hull | 2022 State IA (Boyden-Hull) – 21.5
Te Slaa, the best player in 2A, recently committed to play his college ball at South Dakota State. A 6-5 wing who can do everything on the floor, he posted remarkable efficiency numbers last year, finishing with 53-37-81 shooting splits and a 58.0 eFG%. A smooth wing who defends, scores from all three levels, and gets others involved, his ability to dominate the game on both ends of the floor is unmatched in 2A.
3.) 2023 Jackson Manning Jackson Manning 5'11" | PG Van Buren County | 2023 State IA (Van Buren County) – 20.5
The Warriors were winless last year, but Manning was a bright spot, averaging north of 20 points a game and showing the ability to score from all three levels. If he can improve his efficiency a little bit, he could lead the state in scoring as a junior.
4.) 2023 Zach Lutmer Zach Lutmer 6'1" | PG Central Lyon | 2023 State IA (Central Lyon) – 20.4
Also a dynamo on the football field, Lutmer posted incredible efficiency numbers as a sophomore for the Lions, posting 58-45-69 shooting splits and leading the team in every major category. He’s a bouncy athlete with excellent handles and a smooth perimeter stroke who gets to the bucket and knocks down 3s with regularity.
5.) 2022 Dalton Reeves Dalton Reeves 6'3" | SF Davis County | 2022 State IA (Davis County) – 19.7
A versatile 6-4 scorer, Reeves does a majority of his damage inside the arc, but can stretch out to the line and knock down an occasional jumper, just enough to make the defense respect it. He has good size and length, and is an efficient and crafty finisher around the rim with good footwork. His 176 free throw attempts led 2A.
6.) 2022 Caleb Holmes Caleb Holmes 6'2" | SF Hinton | 2022 State IA (Hinton) – 19.5
Holmes is as capable of anyone in the state of having an explosive scoring game, as evidenced by his 43-point outburst against Sioux Central last season. He’s a pure scorer who does a great job utilizing ball fakes to freeze the defender and get by them, as well as showing a smooth stroke off the dribble. His 130 free-throw attempts are fifth among returnees in the class.
7.) 2023 Jacob Hargens Jacob Hargens 6'2" | PG Sioux Central | 2023 State IA (Sioux Central) – 19.3
Hargens is a big, physical 6-2 wing who uses his strength to get to the rim and finish through contact. His constant attacking style led to a remarkably efficient 57.1% from the floor, but he’s also a solid shooter, burying over 40% of his 3-point attempts as a junior. In addition to his scoring, he uses his strength and athleticism to dominate the glass, pulling down 9.4 rebounds a night.
8.) 2022 Mason Scheve Mason Scheve 6'1" | SG Pleasantville | 2022 State IA (Pleasantville) – 18.8
Scheve is one of the best shooters in the class, knocking down 60 3-pointers last year at a 40% clip. He uses his shooting ability to open up the rest of his skill set, getting defenders to close out hard and then attacking to get to the rim. He moves well off the ball and is a good shooter both off the dribble and the catch.
9.) 2023 Caden Kirkman Caden Kirkman 6'8" | PF Wilton | 2023 State IA (Wilton) – 18.6
Kirkman, a talented 6-6 big man, had a really strong sophomore season for the Beavers, averaging 11.0 rebounds and 4.3 blocks a game to go with his scoring prowess, and he followed that up with a really strong spring and summer with the Iowa Barnstormers. He has great footwork and touch around the rim, can finish with either hand at the bucket, and is working to extend his range. He’s going to be a coveted Division II prospect with his ability to score and defend the paint.
10.) 2022 Carson Lienau Carson Lienau 6'4" | PF Jesup | 2022 State IA (Jesup) – 18.4
A highly efficient 6-4 big man, Lienau knows where he’s good, and he rarely strays away from that area, dominating the painted area to the tune of 65% shooting last year. He also racks up points off of offensive rebounds, pulling down 4.4 offensive boards a game last year.
