M14 Defeats Fundamental U UA in Thriller

Could not have asked for a better game to begin July with. The host program M14 against one of the hottest teams at the end of the spring in Fundamental U UA. Early on M14 jumped out behind their sharp shooting and ability to get to the rim. Fundamental U came right back at them with a terrific second half of passing, post play, and shot making. It went to OT and in the end M14 scored a 70-67 victory. For M14 it was the [player_tooltip player_id="999561" first="Patrick" last="Robinson Jr"]. show. The Oswego East strong bodied wing was in all out attack mode from the jump. He scored 27 points on the night with a ton of and-1s converting through contact. Also made several threes including one he was fouled on. Naperville Central 6'1” guard [player_tooltip player_id="1140351" first="Jonah" last="Hinton"] was outstanding as well. The guard was quick off the bounce and in transition for 15 points. [player_tooltip player_id="1210374" first="Ty" last="Rogers"] presents a lot of intriguing qualities. The West Aurora 6'7” forward has touch from deep and is quick to the offensive glass. Excellent guard play for M14 out of their small college duo [player_tooltip player_id="1210416" first="Trent" last="Tousana"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1215835" first="DeVon" last="Oregon"] who each made several key plays in the win. On the Fundamental U UA side New Trier's [player_tooltip player_id="1210370" first="Jackson" last="Munro"] was outstanding. The 6'9” post was a force when he got the ball on the block. Strong moves and feel for scoring in the paint. Also had several put backs and emphatically swatted a couple shots. Went for 16 points. Rebounded at a high rate as well. Niles North point guard [player_tooltip player_id="925196" first="Yogi" last="Oliff"] was the master of the float game! Loved getting in the lane and laying it over defenders. Crisp passer that drove and kicked tow shooters. He had 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id="999562" first="Bryce" last="Moore"] brings athleticism on the perimeter as a combo guard with a nice frame. He defended well on the perimeter, has a burst off the bounce, and hit a couple of threes. Libertyville four man [player_tooltip player_id="925227" first="Chase" last="Bonder"] is a skilled small college post that can let it fly from deep.

Young & Reckless Brim Flexes Muscles in Win

The Young & Reckless Brim squad is comprised mostly of unsigned seniors that will be going the prep route next season. They were completely unstoppable on Friday night. Former Zion Benton wing [player_tooltip player_id="1152903" first="Amar" last="Augillard"] who is headed to Core 4 Prep in Georgia put on a complete and utter show in the first half. Strong bodied 6'6” forward threw down nasty dunks, bullied his way to the lane, and dished some ridiculous dimes. He had 24 of his game high 28 points in the first half. [player_tooltip player_id="920945" first="Jaehshon" last="Thomas"] is a plus pull up shooter that knocked them down from all over the floor for 23 points. Would be an excellent late find at the D2 level, but sounds like he will go prep as well which we can definitely see him at the D1 level a year from now after a year of prep. [player_tooltip player_id="821734" first="Jaiden" last="Lee"] will head to Big Tyme Prep in Texas. Long and rangy former Joliet West wing is a plus spot up shooter that skied for several explosive dunks en route to 19 points. [player_tooltip player_id="920947" first="Kimahri" last="Wilson"] also chipped in with 11 points as the former Carmel guard used his speed and creativity in the open floor. It was a tough night for the [program_tooltip program_id='2081813' first='Archangels' last=''] squad that Y&R faced, but still a couple of combo forwards showed flashes. Galesburg 6'7” power forward [player_tooltip player_id="1048727" first="Koen" last="Derry"] is an athletic post that runs the floor, hits the offensive glass, and showed some pop defensively on a block. [player_tooltip player_id="1048728" first="Turner" last="Plumer"] is a 6'6” four from Canton. He stretches the floor with his shooting and gets second chance points.

Champaign Heat and HIT Go Back and Forth in Fun Nightcap

Two mainstays on the Prep Hoops Circuit who have tons of ranked prospects battled on Friday night. HIT got the win late 79-67. Hoops Intensity Training was paced by their star Batavia stretch forward [player_tooltip player_id="863630" first="Ethan" last="Ivan"]. He drained threes spotting up over and over again. Such a quick and effortless shooting stroke. Also had a couple of dump off finishes inside. Went for 35 points in the game. Elite D2 recruit! His running mate [player_tooltip player_id="1055140" first="Billy" last="Bach"] is also a sharp shooter as he hit four of them on his way to 13 points. For Champaign Heat their guard duo led the way. Bolingbrook point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1048730" first="Jaydin" last="Dunlap"] is active on the defensive end and always seems to find a way to rack up buckets offensively. He had 20 points. St. Thomas More two guard [player_tooltip player_id="996082" first="David" last="Hubbard"] is a silky smooth wing that drains jumpers with such ease in the mid-range going for 14 points.

Mac Irvin Fire Gets Opening Win

We caught the second part of the final half between Fundamental U and Mac Irvin Fire. The Fire took home the win behind a terrific outing from Whitney Young unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id="920942" first="Grant" last="Newell"]. His motor continues to run high like we saw in the spring. Dunks, mid-range jumpers out of the post, and carving deep post position for scores. He had 26 points. [player_tooltip player_id="939077" first="Javonte" last="Taylor"] is playing up this weekend. The top 5 national 2023 recruit is a future pro. Skilled shooter from deep that also has explosive athleticism above the rim. Kenwood point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1210369" first="Trey" last="Pettigrew"] scored 10 points in the win as well. For Fundamental U [player_tooltip player_id="1210370" first="Jackson" last="Munro"] once again did work inside going for 17 points.
