The Ridgewood Shootout this past weekend hosted a ton of college coaches and many high level prospects. In this story we examine the top rising senior performances in Ridgewood: 2022 Top Performers!

[player_tooltip player_id="1106926" first="Justin" last="Mullins"] (OPRF)

Mullins had an excellent showing this past weekend. The OPRF wing has elevated his stock over the last six months. Mullins put together a consistent performance showcasing his versatility. The utility wing is a good rebounder that crashes the glass on the defensive end and starts the break. Made shots at a higher clip than we have previously seen. Played above the rim in transition and defended at a high level on the perimeter. Mid-majors and low-majors are involved here.

[player_tooltip player_id="863618" first="Dylan" last="Arnett"] (DePaul Prep)

Arnett is a skilled post that elevated his stock over the last two weekends. Strong and skilled big man that ran the floor hard for scores in transition. He was aggressive off the bounce from the mid-post taking it right at his opponents. Showed more athleticism at the rim. Capable floor stretcher. Tough post defender. Mid-majors and low-major offers are coming in fast and furious.

[player_tooltip player_id="925225" first="Ethan" last="Marlowe"] (St. Charles North)

Marlowe is an intriguing prospect with his lanky frame and skilled game. Face up four that can stretch the floor with his shooting. Every time we looked over to his court it was another feathery jumper going in. Is a good athlete that can handle it some off the dribble and finish acrobatic conversions at the rim. Low-majors need to jump in here.

[player_tooltip player_id="925183" first="Braden" last="Huff"] (Glenbard West)

Huff is the #2 prospect in the senior class. He had flashes throughout the weekend, but really turned it on in their final game against Kenwood when the lights were the brightest. The 6’9” post has such a versatile inside/outside game being able to handle, shoot with range, and is an excellent passer. Also cuts well to the hoop for scores.

[player_tooltip player_id="771516" first="AJ" last="Casey"] (Whitney Young)

Casey sets at the top of the board in the Illinois 2022 class. The athletic and rangy four man did a little bit of everything over the weekend. Friday night was the most dominant we had seen him with his assertiveness on the interior. He threw down some monster dunks including a sick spin move on the baseline. As the weekend went on he had to take on more of a ball handling duty even playing point-forward at times. What impressed us most was how well he rebounded in stretches.

[player_tooltip player_id="863585" first="Xavier" last="Amos"] (Whitney Young)

Amos has been rock solid over the last two weekends. The Dolphins four man has a great frame with strength, length, and athleticism. He brings mobility on both ends as a finisher and shot blocker. Plays with a high motor. Runs the floor with a purpose. Quick moves when he gets it within 15 feet. Mid-major prospect no doubt!

[player_tooltip player_id="863619" first="Ben" last="VanderWal"] (Timothy Christian)

VanderWal continues to prove he is a legit LM+/MM prospect at the next level. Plus positional size at 6’7” with a versatile offensive game. What is interesting about VanderWal is as well as he shot it from deep in the spring it has been his toughness and drive game that has made noise during July. Putting his head down and scoring at the cup. Active defender and very good rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id="925178" first="Kyle" last="Thomas"] (Fenwick)

Thomas did a better job at Ridgewood playing with a motor and getting after it on the glass. Really liked what he did as a rebounder on both ends of the floor. Crashed the glass for put backs and finished high/low feeds. Even hit a couple of threes, but didn’t settle for it.

[player_tooltip player_id="925224" first="Nick" last="Martinelli"] (Glenbrook South)

Martinelli is a 6’7” playmaking do it all forward. He can handle it getting to the rim with crafty drives changing directions. Such a tough cover when he is going downhill as he has a feel for the weak spot in the defense and exploiting it. Mid-range jumper. Very active rebounder that takes pride in clearing the glass. He had 22 points and 13 rebounds in the game we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210371" first="Tye" last="Banks"] (Springfield Lanphier)

Banks is an underappreciated player being from central Illinois, but he has been a known prospect since the beginning of high school career. Used his big body to overpower defenders by attacking using spin moves and shake off the dribble. Does a nice job of converting through contact. Shows flashes as a shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="863582" first="Jaden" last="Schutt"] (Yorkville Christian)

The state’s top rising senior guard had a lot of eyes on him from fans, college coaches, and videographers. What stood out from the jump is that he wasn’t going to jack up a bunch of shots instead play within the flow of the offense and let the game come to him. He did exactly that. Knocked down the long ball like always when it presented itself. Also was a major factor in transition including throwing down a pair of thunderous slams. Like how he read the floor as a secondary ball handler and distributor. High-major all the way!

[player_tooltip player_id="863613" first="AJ" last="Redd"] (St. Igantius)

Wiry shooting guard that can score from multiple levels. He was at his best slicing and dicing through holes in the defense for layups and knocking in mid-range jumpers. More of an off guard but is a solid secondary ball handler. Stepped up big in their game against Kenwood.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210369" first="Trey" last="Pettigrew"] (Kenwood)

Pettigrew hit shots at a high clip for Kenwood. The rising senior who recently moved back to Chicago from Arizona is figuring out where he fits in next to Ames in Kenwood’s backcourt. What we liked was he could play both on and off the ball as a secondary or primary ball handler while still scoring it.

[player_tooltip player_id="863587" first="Jalen" last="Quinn"] (Tuscola)

Quinn brought a ton of college coaches over to see him play at St. Patrick where all four of Tuscola’s games were. Quick point guard that brings creativity with the rock in his hands. Finishes well and is ambidextrous where he can shoot floaters with either hand. Good passer that puts zip on his dishes. Physically he has gotten much stronger in his upper body over the last year which will help him at the program he ends up at.
