Prep Hoops Illinois was in Carbondale on Wednesday for the final day of the Pure Sweat Combine featuring top players from southern Illinois. A few players returned from Monday, but there were quite a few new prospects at the camp for the last day. We recap it all here in Pure Sweat Combine: Wednesday Evaluations!
[player_tooltip player_id="1106927" first="Elliot" last="Lowndes"] (Cobden – 2022)
Lowndes was the most impressive prospect at the camp on Wednesday. He stands at 6'10” with over a seven foot wingspan. Projectable frame that he can add strength on long term. Let us start with his game in the paint. Touch inside including a fluid hook shot. Sound footwork and quick decisive moves. Runs the floor with ease including several dunks in transition. Also does a nice job of getting himself open for dump off finishes in the half court. More than just an inside player he can step out to hit from both mid-range and three at a solid clip. Defensively has a decent shot blocking feel. Once he adds strength and improves a little as a rebounder he is going to be a really nice D2 post prospect.
[player_tooltip player_id="1049106" first="Brady" last="Thrane"] (Hamilton County – 2022)
Thrane is a strong bodied 6'1” two guard that was a good slasher finishing with toughness off the bounce. Finished well around the hoop.
[player_tooltip player_id="1113516" first="Darien" last="Singleton"] (Mascoutah – 2023)
Singleton was one of the top prospects we were looking forward to seeing. The 6'0” strong and athletic lead guard is a score first guard. He knocked in an array of pull up threes and mid-range. Burst with the ball in his hands using his speed getting to the rim. As they day went on he began to show more passing instincts than we have seen in previous evals. His growth as a passer will ultimately decide what level he plays at.
[player_tooltip player_id="939049" first="Cade" last="Altadonna"] (Highland – 2023)
Altadonna had a much better day shooting it on Wednesday. Tough and competitive scoring point guard was draining pull up shots from mid-range and three at his usual clip. Plays with a lot of strength and has a knack for making plays as a scorer and distributor.
[player_tooltip player_id="989273" first="Grant" last="Fridley"] (Trenton Wesclin – 2023)
Fridley was probably the top 2023 prospect at the camp. Love his feel for the game especially his passing. He has it on a string dishing the rock off his handles once getting in the teeth of the defense. Makes quick decisions on the fly and is always surveying the defense. Really like the touch he puts on his passes putting it not only where it is needed, but with the correct zip. As a scorer he showed during the camp he has solid floater and is a more than capable threat from three. Really like him as an early D2 candidate.
[player_tooltip player_id="1055130" first="McGrady" last="Noyes"] (Triad – 2023)
Noyes had a nice week at the Pure Sweat Camp. Plus size on the wing at 6'4”. Slick ball handler that has an overall nice skill set. Got to the rim off the bounce and was effective in the 15-18 foot range with his shot.
[player_tooltip player_id="1048391" first="Kade" last="Lustenberger"] (Carterville – 2023)
This 6'5” small forward continues to help his stock in recent months. Presents plus size on the perimeter with a multi-level scoring game. He hit at a nice clip from distance and was good scoring at the rim in transition. Also showed bounce getting on the offensive glass.
[player_tooltip player_id="1113522" first="Tyler" last="Franklin"] (Cobden – 2023)
Franklin is a thick bodied 6'5” combo forward that plays with strength around the hoop getting on the glass rebounding well in his area. Brings a streak of physicality to the table and can hit an open shot with a sweet lefty stroke.
[player_tooltip player_id="1164548" first="Devan" last="Rush"] (Metro East Lutheran – 2023)
The older of the Rush brothers showed well at the camp. At 6'2” he has a long and rangy frame. Smooth athlete that has a feathery pull up game from mid-range. He is also a plus threat off the catch and plays well in the open floor as a finisher. Brings some projectability to the table.
[player_tooltip player_id="1157355" first="Jaeden" last="Rush"] (Metro East Lutheran – 2024)
Rush is an up and coming point guard that is transferring from O'Fallon to Metro East Lutheran for his sophomore campaign. The 5'8” point guard is a pass first guard that has an excellent feel for the game. He is a crisp ball handler that has a nice pull up shot.
Jackson Lee (Massac County – 2024)
Lee is a mature kid that plays well beyond his years. He is a 6'3” shooting guard that plays with physicality. The thick bodied wing rebounds well and is a solid mid-range shooter.
Aiden Hinton (Carterville – 2024)
Hinton is a strong combo forward that is at his best right now in transition, rebounding, and using his quickness in the paint at 6'2”. Long term potential will be dependent on how much his perimeter game improves.
[player_tooltip player_id='1470208' first='Corey' last='Harris Jr'] (Mascoutah – 2025)
Super small guard that got it going as the day went along. Flashy passer that can also hit a three when left open.
[player_tooltip player_id='1598659' first='Brady' last='Conway'] (Pinckneyville – 2025)
Another tiny point guard that is at his best letting it fly from distance. Takes a while for him to get it off, but hit several of them.
[player_tooltip player_id='1545140' first='Drew' last='Barrington'] (Carterville – 2025)
Barrington was active on the defensive end getting his hands on several turnovers. Scored with athleticism at the rim and made several sweet dishes in the games.
Jayden McCoo (Mascoutah – 2025)
McCoo is a 5'10” combo guard that brings strength and transition scoring to the table. Scored in bunches when playing in the open floor. Like the motor he brought.
