Sonny Styles Sonny Styles 6'4" | SF Pickerington Central | 2023 OH , 6’4 SF Pickerington Central 2023 All Ohio Red 16U: Styles is one of the top football recruits in the country but he’s also one of the most important pieces for All Ohio Red and their stacked 16U team. It’s becoming less common for an elite recruit to play multiple sports in HS but Styles is a tremendous competitor on both the gridiron and hardwood. With his safety athleticism, Styles is one of the best defenders in his class. Whether it’s a huge block or jumping a passing lane for a steal and dunk, Styles is hunting a highlight reel defensive play.
Donovan Hunter Donovan Hunter 6'7" | PF Spire | 2023 State OH , 6’7 SF Westerville Central 2023 Indy Heat 16U: Hunter helped the Warhawks make the state title game in Division I and had a nice spring with Indy Heat as well. Starting to become more productive with his impressive tools, Hunter looks the part of a Division I recruit. Hunter can space the floor from the forward position and shoots an easy ball. Westerville Central started four seniors next to Hunter, seeing him as a primary scorer should tell a lot about his development as an offensive player.
Bryce Darbyshire Bryce Darbyshire 6'3" | SF Sycamore | 2023 State OH , 6’3 SF Sycamore 2023 Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB 16U: Darbyshire is one of my favorite role players in the entire state. On both Sycamore and Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB he isn’t the leading scorer, but finds other ways to make an impact. This is a skill many young players struggle with and should help him get on the floor early in college. Darbyshire is also a good passer from the wing spot as well, knowing his role to find scorers on his team.
Sam Whitmer Sam Whitmer 6'3" | SF Elder | 2023 State OH , 6’3 SF Elder 2023 Shining Star Price 16U: Whitmer is one of the primary creators on Shining Star Price, which allows him to handle the ball more and be more aggressive shooting the ball from the outside. On Elder, Whitmer got limited minutes as a Sophomore but should be a regular rotation player next season. Seeing him in different settings will be important for college coaches. Whitmer could be a breakout candidate in the Cincy area this winter, but we’re buying stock now in his abilities.
Daylen Green Daylen Green 6'2" | SG Sandusky | 2023 State OH , 6’3 SF Sandusky 2023 Ohio Buckets-Miller: Green is a solid defender against both shooting guards and small forwards, I slotted him with the SF’s because he still needs to make some improvements with his outside shooting and ball handling, but Green plays hard and shows good feel on the offensive end. I believe he has the chance to become a much better offensive player with some of the flash plays you see him make. With his defensive ability and athleticism, he’ll get lots of interest from small colleges next summer. If he makes noticeable improvements offensively before that time, he could play his way into some scholarship interest when it’s all said and done.
