Continue ReadingMany prospects in the 2023 class have only played one high school season despite heading into their junior seasons respectively. With that being said, we continue to learn more about this class with each weekend that passes. Here are the top-10 unranked names to know from DC, Maryland, and Virginia in 2023.
#10 | Tre Stott | 6’3″ Wing | Watkins Mill/ DC Premier
Stott popped onto our radar down in Richmond a couple of weeks back. He’s a long-limbed left-hander who plays bigger than his listed height due to his length. Stott’s long arms enable him to finish at the rim with touch. He is also a threat to knock down multiple perimeter jumpers in a game.
#9 | Blake Burrows | 6’1″ Guard | Team Shooters/South River
Burrows plays a blue-collar brand of basketball. He can score at all levels on the offensive side, but also does his due diligence defensively. Burrows brings passion and intensity to every play. He has the makings of a future team captain.
#8 | Brendan Robinson | 5’10” Guard | Bishop O’Connell
Robinson is a true point guard who sets the tone with his defense. He is a knockdown perimeter jump shooter with his feet set. From there, Robinson knows how to attack closeouts, get paint touches, and distribute.
#7 | Corey Caulker | 5’9″ Guard | District BC/Fairfax Christian
Caulker is a two-way floor general who takes away air space at the point of attack defensively. He is very good at pushing the tempo in transition and seeing the open court. If you are a smart cutter off the ball, chances are Caulker will find you.
#6 | Joe Baldwin | 6’6″ Forward | District BC/Fairfax Christian
Baldwin is an athletic forward who can guard virtually every position. He protects the rim at a high level and can rebound out of his area. Baldwin is only going to improve offensively so you have to like his upside.
#5 | Kristian Tate Kristian Tate 6'3" | PG DeMatha | 2023 MD | 6’2″ Guard | DeMatha/The City
Tate is a rangy guard who plays above the rim on both ends. He can shoot the trey but also likes to attack the basket with aggression. Tate has significant defensive potential because of his combination of physical tools along with his instincts.
#4 | Alejandro Ford | 6’4″ Wing | VA Playmakers /Wakefield School
Ford is a corner specialist from three-point land with length. He brings toughness and physicality to any team. Ford is not afraid to fight with larger opponents for paint positioning and 50/50’s.
#3 | Cameron Cole | 6’3″ Guard | Team Durant/Osbourn Park
Cole is a bouncy guard who can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the court. He has a chance to be considered one of the better two-way guard prospects in Northern Virginia.
#2 | Doyle Brown | 6’1″ Guard | District BC/Centreville
Brown is a marksman from deep who is just as good off the dribble as he is from the catch. He is making a high volume of threes this spring which is an encouraging sign, but he also focuses on rebounding his position.
#1 | Alex Chaikin | 5’10” Guard | Team Loaded 804/Jamestown (VA)
Chaikin was one of our favorite finds this past winter, and he has carried that momentum with him throughout the spring. He is a skilled guard with moxie who can fill it up from long range.
Team Loaded 804 wins against PSB DMV Elite 51-37. Alex Chaikin has 24 points (6 threes) in the victory. @NorfolkKnights @TeamloadedV @zg_midatlantic @TeamLoadedBBall @ZeroGravityBB @TeamLoaded804 @TeamLoadedVA @ZeroGravityXL pic.twitter.com/hFYjwE8n5g
