Lawrent Rice Lawrent Rice 6'4" | PG Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State #184 Nation OH , 6’4 PG Huber Heights Wayne 2023 All Ohio Red 16U: Rice is one of the top prospects in the state for his class and he proved it again with his play last weekend. Rice has made big strides shooting the basketball from the outside, going from a non shooter to respectable from beyond the arc. If Rice really shoots it, he’s likely an impact high major player from the get go. I love Rice’s athleticism, he’s able to make impact defensive plays in a variety of ways. He’s long and has good size to see over defenders for passes.
Elias Lewis Elias Lewis 6'2" | SG Olentangy Orange | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Olentangy Orange 2023 Nova Village-Schmitz: Lewis is a sharp shooting off guard who’s been able to make an impact at the varsity level. Lewis knows his strengths and weaknesses well and I like that he doesn’t try to do too much with the basketball. He keeps the game simple, he knocks down jumpers, doesn’t let the ball stick to his hands and defends. I’d like to see him get better at getting all the way to the rim and become more consistent at beating defenders off the bounce, but there’s time for that to grow. Right now, he’s a guy who helps you win games.
Julian Mitchell, 6’4 SF Lakota East 2023 Midwest Basketball Club Gold: Mitchell intrigued me with his physical tools pregame, he’s skinny and a lanky 6’4 wing. Mitchell showed some impressive flashes throughout this game, knocking down some shots from the inside and blocking some shots. He’s got some development to make with his ball handling and could add some muscle, but I liked what I saw from him this weekend. I expect him to make an impact on varsity for the Thunderhawks next season.
Charlie Russell, 6’4 PF Bishop Ready 2023 Mid Ohio Pumas-Russell: Russell played in the 270 Hoops Battle For the City, that was my first chance to see the power forward in action. Russell showed off his skills in a more organized environment over the weekend. Russell made shots from the outside and finished through contact. He knows how to play and took smart shots. I think Russell will be a highly coveted prospect by small colleges in a couple years.
Nathan Dudukovich Nathan Dudukovich 6'2" | SG Lakota West | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Lakota West 2023 Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB: Dudukovich shoots the crap out of the basketball, easily one of the best shooters in the state for his class. He really made it rain against Indy Heat EYBl in an overtime contest that went the other way. I was impressed with how many shots Dudukovich was able to get off against a team as athletic as Indy Heat. Dudukovich is one of the top SW Ohio prospects in the 2023 class and has already made a mark for Lakota West.
Ryan Walsh, 6’1 CG Elyria 2023 TNBA -Ohio 16U: Walsh plays with a little funk to his game, making some impressive crossovers and finishes to score the basketball in the two games I caught of his. Walsh is a knockdown spot up shooter from long range, but I was more impressed with his ability to beat players off the bounce. I think Walsh has a chance to be a scholarship level guard when it’s all said and done, think he could breakout next season for Elyria.
