PrepHoops presented Havoc in the Heartland this past weekend and what an event it was! Talent from all over came into the state of Indiana and put on a show on the big stage. Today, we are going to recap what we saw from a few of our 2022’s that stood out and provide our evaluations.

Tipping Point 2022

Braedon Helms 2022 6’4" PF Fairfeld – Helms is strong yet undersized PF. Real strong, athletic build and uses it to his advantage on both ends. Right at the SF height but stuck mostly in the post and would try to post up on his defender and work in moves with the ball. Crashes the glass very hard and is the type of player where if you tell him to get the ball, he gets the ball. Needs to see an outside game from him for a better evaluation but for being an undersized PF, he plays just as well as any other PF.

Tyson Yates 2022 6’0" PG Triton – Yates is a quick and shifty lead guard. Has a taller looking frame and handles the ball very well. Drives well to the rim but is little wild when he gets there. Makes real sharp passes and has a little bit of flash to his game. Impressed with his lateral quickness and ability to get the defender off balance. Not much of an outside game right now but with that he could take his game up another level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1168252" first="Beck" last="Willems"] 2022 6’3" SF Bethany Christian – Willems is a taller SF that can really shoot the ball. Works hard off the ball to get an open look and often snuck away from the defender. Scores at all 3 levels but really makes his money 18ft and out. Is not going to wow you with high level athleticism but does shoot the ball with a ton of confidence. Works hard on defense as well. Overall, Willems proved to be a bucket for Tipping Point.

Indiana Game 2022 Blue

[player_tooltip player_id="1195296" first="Kanye" last="Roberson"] 2022 6’0" PG Michigan City – Roberson is a slim, taller lead guard. Plays with a good amount of flash and gets to the rim at a solid rate. Very quick going north and south and can push the tempo on the offense. High vertical and can finish drives consistently. High arching jump shot as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1159613" first="Matt" last="Zdanowicz"] 2022 6’3" SG Crown Point – Zdanowicz is a taller shooting guard that is very explosive. Surprisingly was playing on the ball a little more than I thought he would but was able to make plays with it. Sees the floor well and uses great speed with anything he is doing. Was working it towards the rim and had an impressive And1 at one point. Don’t know if this on ball thing is long term or not but Zdanowicz is talented enough to make anything work.

Tate Drone 2022 6’5" SF Rensselaer Central – Drone is a taller SF with a high motor on both ends. Plays at the rim and has a strong baseline drive in his arsenal. Really loved how he chased after every single one of his jumpers and even got his own rebound a couple of times. Made some great passes and overall just battles every play. Could really see him playing at that D2 level.

[player_tooltip player_id="870223" first="Jalen" last="Bullock"] 2022 6’7 PF/C Calumet New Tech – Bullock is a big post with a great amount of skill. Did not show a ton of offense but showed that he is a great post defender. Blocks shots, rebounds, and fights through contact like a post should. Runs the floor very well and even showed some great ball handles driving down the length of the floor. Overall, Bullock is smart, strong big with the talent to back it up.

Indiana Game 2022 Grey

Deeon Franklin 2022 6’6 PF/C Merrillville – Franklin is a big post that looked so impressive here. Rebound the ball a ton and at one point had 6 rebounds in the first 6 min of the game and was giving Indiana Game a ton of second chance points. Defended the post and blocked quite a few shots as well. He is also so strong and runs the floor very well. Heard that he had only been playing organized basketball for only about 2 years now and was shocked when I heard that because you couldn’t really tell from watching him. Franklin is a guy to watch for this next year.

Cole Rappold 2022 6’4 SF Crown Point – Rappold is a taller wing than can mix it up inside and out. Plays within himself and does not do anything wild or out of control with the ball. Not super strong yet but battles with toughness down low. Also has a smooth up and under move. Think there is some untapped potential in Rappold because he showed flashes here.

Cameron Andrews 2022 5’11 PG Washington Township – Andrews is a shorter lead guard with a high basketball IQ. Great passer and can be a pretty good shooter at times. Best play from him was a smooth 3 off the catch and then he turned around and stole the ball off a full court pass. Has a solid floater as well. Solid showing from Andrews.

[player_tooltip player_id="1158097" first="Austin" last="Smith"] 2022 6’4 SF Crown Point – Smith is a long and lanky wing. Good looking stroke from behind the arc and has a quick and high arching release and can get hot at any moment. Sneaky good passer and was making plays that threw the defenders off their game. Not a lot of muscle on his frame so needs to hit the weights. Potential to be a deep threat at the next level.
