Here’s a look at some of the top 15U shooters in KC last weekend (in alphabetical order):
Mason Combs, 5-foot-11 guard, Oklahoma Basketball Club, Deer Creek HS:
Combs is a high-energy player who is always hunting that shot. He believes in his stroke and isn’t hesitant to pull the trigger. He isn’t just a shooter. He handles the ball well and attacks the lane. But he impacts the game first and foremost by his ability to stretch the defense.
Mason English, 6-foot-2 guard/forward, Victory Ministry, Pittsburg (KS) HS:
English knocked down a lot of three’s at Kansas City. He’s a powerfully built, big guy who has limitless range. He helps bring the ball down the court and passes the ball on the perimeter, so he’s in position to get a lot of 3-point shots. He has a nice touch and isn’t afraid to shoot.
Alex Keizer, 6-foot-3 forward, H.I.T., Timothy Christian HS:
Keizer can get hot and stay hot. He showed his distance and quick release in KC. He floats around the perimeter for catch-and-shoot opportunities. When he has his feet set and his teammates find him, he can rack up points in a hurry. At 6-foot-3, the player from the Chicago suburbs has the size to shoot over defenders.
Caeden Terrell, 6-foot guard, Iowa Barnstormers 1, United Township HS:
Terrell got really hot in Kansas City. He has a nice easy stroke and the athleticism to get open in the half court. He glides around the perimeter to present himself to passers. He also is a quick enough driver with the ball that defenders have to play off a step. Terrell is a great complement to the long, driving athletes who are crashing the lane for the Barnstormers.
Keenan Wiley, 6-foot-4 guard/forward, Iowa Barnstormers 2, Mason City HS (pictured):
The long, athletic Wiley can get shots off in a variety of ways. He is athletic enough to get to spots quickly, and long enough to shoot over defenders. He is a really good ball handler, able to set up pull-up jumpers on his own.
