Region-2 Tournament Preview

Basketball fans in Northeast North Dakota will be heading to Betty Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks on Monday to watch Region-2 playoff action. There are only eight teams left in the tournament. Four teams finished their season on Tuesday with a loss in the play-in round. The North Broder Eagles are the favorites to win and punch their ticket to Minot. However, seeds #2 through #6 are all talented teams that could make some noise and shake things up. I guarantee you that this will be an entertaining and exciting Regional Tournament. Make sure you check these games out. Let us take a closer look at the matchups on Monday… Region 2 Monday, March 8th, 2021 [1:00 start] #9 Drayton/Valley-Edinburg (9-13) vs. #1 North Border (16-2) The Titans beat Finley-Sharon/Hope Page 61-57 to get into this game. Drayton/Valley-Edinburg scores 48.5 ppg and they give up 52.4 ppg. North Border scores 66.4 ppg and allows 48.6 ppg. They played earlier this season on February 16th and North Border won by a score of 69-42. [2:30 start] #5 Midway/Minto (16-6) vs. #4 Thompson (14-7) The Mustangs took down Park River/Fordville-Lankin 67-55 to get into this game. Midway/Minto scores 68.1 ppg and gives up 60.1 ppg. Thompson puts up 51.8 ppg and allows 44.3 ppg. They played earlier this season and Thompson won 68-52. Those two make Midway/Minto a scary team as they can go off and put up a ton of points. Thompson is a tough matchup because they are more focused on defense and they like to control the pace of the game. Hillsboro/Central Valley scores 58.4 ppg and they give up 48.7 ppg. When they played earlier this season the Burros won with a score of 61-34.
