Friday Five: The St. James Winter League

<p>Every hooper has his own go-to move. This article identifies five of the toughest go-to moves we’ve seen at The St. James this winter. </p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1049634" first="Will" last="Scherer"] Sky Hook</h5> <p>This move was actually the inspiration for this article. Whenever<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="1049634" first="Will" last="Scherer"]</strong> is able to get off his signature running skyhook, using his left hand over his right shoulder, he is probably going to make it and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop him because he’s 6’10. </p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="697101" first="Darius" last="Johnson"] Dribble Drive</h5> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="697101" first="Darius" last="Johnson"]</strong> has uncommon physical tools. He has an explosive first step. Johnson decelerates and accelerates on a dime. He elevates quickly with little effort and embraces contact. With skills to match his unique physical gifts, Johnson is impossible to stay in front of when he wants to get downhill. </p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="775314" first="Erik" last="Reynolds"] Step Back</h5> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="775314" first="Erik" last="Reynolds"]</strong> has had the step back in his bag since we first saw him as a freshman. He goes to it in late clock situations and perfecting it has paid dividends. </p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="957018" first="Amani" last="Hansberry"] Post Fade</h5> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="957018" first="Amani" last="Hansberry"]</strong> has multiple go-to moves. His turnaround fade away from the mid-post is probably the toughest one to stop. He gets that shot off quickly and converts it routinely. </p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="902002" first="Quincy" last="Allen"] Pull-Up</h5> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="902002" first="Quincy" last="Allen"]</strong> is 6-foot-7 with excellent physical tools and skills. He loves getting to his spots and pulling up on a dime. Allen is known to hit pull-ups from mid-range or three within the context of a game. </p>
