Here’s who stood out from a loaded double-header.
2024 6-0 PG Montez Redding Montez Redding 6'2" | PG Jonesboro | 2024 State GA – Forest Park
The future is extremely bright for Montez Redding Montez Redding 6'2" | PG Jonesboro | 2024 State GA . He’s a high motor guard with an advanced floor game. The freshman likes to push the pace and get into the lane. He made good reads off the dribble and found open teammates on the perimeter in Forest Park’s 64-55 win over Jonesboro. Redding impressed with his defensive intensity. He pushed up tight and made opposing guards uncomfortable. Redding is an electric athlete. He finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He has game-changing ability.
2023 6-2 G Jaquez Akins Jaquez Akins 6'2" | CG Jonesboro | 2023 State GA – Forest Park
The first thing that stands out about Jaquez Akins Jaquez Akins 6'2" | CG Jonesboro | 2023 State GA is his physic. He is a thick muscular guard with burly shoulders. He’s built like a running back and has a similar burst of speed when getting to the rack. He converted two tough layups in traffic in the fourth quarter to help stave off a Jonesboro comeback. Akins is tough in isolation situations with how well he can handle the ball. If he gets a step on a defender, he puts them in his back pocket.
2023 6-2 G Dashawn Brown – Forest Park
One of the biggest eye openers from this week was Dashawn Brown. Another terrific athlete on the perimeter, he wasted no time getting downhill. Brown is quick with the ball and has good body control. He is able to absorb contact and finish for and-1s. Dashawn showed flashes of advanced foot work. He scored on an up-and-under step through inside against two 6-foot-7 shot blockers. Brown could be a name we hear about more and more as his career goes on. He’s got good tools at his disposal.
2022 6-2 PG Chadrick Bernard – Jonesboro
Chadrick Bernard hit the only three of the game for Jonesboro vs. Forest Park. He’s a quick guard that flies around the court. He makes an impact on defense with his speed and active hands. He chases the ball across the floor and applies instant pressure by taking away airspace. Bernard crashes the glass well for his size and uses his energy to affect games.
2022 6-2 G Marques Dunn – Jonesboro
A strong thick guard off the football field, Marques Dunn uses his bulk to bully smaller opponents. He can hit the glass and play physical defense. Dunn competes on the backboards and can draw fouls inside. He’s more of a garbage guy defense-first player. Dunn is a three-star tight end recruit.
