Some schools and leagues in the Boston area are starting to get their seasons underway, but many players are still waiting to see if they will get a chance to take the floor for their high schools this season. Either way, these are four of the top names to know in the Boston area for the class of 2022.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081832" first="Mekhi" last="Dedrick"] | Boston English | 5’10” | Point Guard

Mekhi lacks size, for now, but certainly makes up for it with skill, speed, quickness, and bounce. He has the ball on a string, gets wherever he wants on the floor, and is a walking bucket. He finishes above the rim, routinely scores 30 or more, and had a 50 point game last season. He also had a jaw-dropping quadruple-double in a 97-90 win over Charlestown (35 PTs, 10 RBs, 15 ASTs, 13 STLs).

[player_tooltip player_id="1081823" first="Mike" last="Loughnane"] | Boston College | 6’4” | Shooting Guard

Loughnane scores in bunches and a variety of ways. He has a smooth, compact three-point stroke and is great on CnS jumpers, but can also pull-up from deep. He creates his own shot, has a dynamite mid-range game, and gets to the rim. He’s also shown the ability to drive and dish to open teammates. Mike consistently throws down on the break but doesn’t look to have fully reached his athletic potential.

Ethan Daleba | Jeremiah Burke | 6’4” | Guard-Forward

Ethan is an athletic wing, who looks ready to explode this season. With speed and bounce, he’s dynamic in transition and loves to attack the rim, where he looks to throw down or use a smooth finish. His handle and shooting have developed nicely, which help give him an impressive all-around offensive package.

Itai Alinsky | Newton South | 6’5” | Guard-Forward

Alinsky is a long wing who guards multiple positions and creates mismatches. He plays hard, has active hands, and gets a ton of deflections. He handles well, can go to the basket, finish through contact, and make plays for others. He’s also a strong defensive rebounder and can start the break. He put up 20 points and 12 rebounds in Newton South’s season-opening win 66-39 win at Concord-Carlisle.
