With no high school season in Illinois in the near future we thought now would be a great time to dive into our film room checking out highlights players have sent us and break down what we saw. Most of these are from the summer travel team season and fall camps. Here is our Film Room: 2022 Prospects Part 2!

[player_tooltip player_id="996079" first="Drew" last="Meyers"] (Aurora Christian)

Meyers is a 6’1” shooting guard that has a lightning quick release on his jump shot. Gets elevation off the floor on his three point shot with his strength being shooting off the catch. Mixes in spinning layups with his crisp ball handling and has some burst in the open floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049054" first="Dashawn" last="Wells"] (Peoria Central)

Wells is an intriguing 6’4” left handed combo forward. He brings a great strength and skill combination to the table. The lefty is a creative ball handler in space that has a clean looking stroke on his shot both off the catch and creating on his own. Really nice footwork on the block when posting up. Can play bully ball as well. One to watch!

[player_tooltip player_id="1048720" first="Wes" last="Hunt"] (Peoria Christian)

Hunt has a ton of upside heading into the end of his high school career. The 6’7” face up four can stretch the floor to three on occasion and works very well out of the mid-range with his shooting and handles. Footwork around the hoop on post ups. Bounce playing above the rim finishing with explosion. Shot blocking presence on the defensive end. D2s should put him on radar.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048733" first="Jermaine" last="Knaff"] (Quincy)

Knaff is a silky smooth 6’4” two guard that has projectability with his athleticism and length. Feathery three point stroke from beyond the arc which is where he does most of his damage. Mixes in some transition scores as well.

Eli Reese (Rock Island)

This point guard is most effective when getting in the lane off dribble penetration where he likes to finish with scoop shots and spinning layups. Can hit a three when left open spotting up.

Asher Jackson (Carmel)

Jackson is a jumbo two guard at 6’4” with excellent strength on the wing. The big lefty two guard is a plus shooter from deep that loves to set up his shot around ball screens and hits triples from well beyond the college arc. Handles it well and has some passing feel when playing on the ball. Stock going up.

[player_tooltip player_id="863612" first="Marieon" last="Anderson"] (Rock Island)

Anderson is a 6’4” combo guard that spends most of his time in the lane. In the grainy video it was apparent that his strength is getting in the paint and using his athleticism to convert in the lane.

Luka Pina (Whitney Young)

Pina is a small 5’9” guard that is a scrappy floor general that shoots it ok, but almost has a two handed release. Gets layups in the open floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="863585" first="Xavier" last="Amos"] (Whitney Young)

This 6’7” power forward is primed to take a huge step forward in his game. He has a great frame with broad shoulders and long arms. His explosiveness around the hoop along with his quickness in the paint is what immediately stands out. Finishes with force around the rim. His handles and range on his shot continue to improve as was shown in the several videos we watched. D1 prospect.

Ryan Renfro (Glenbard West)

Renfro is a skilled 6’7” power forward that has sound fundamentals around the hoop. Showcased in his highlights a go to hook shot that he can go over either shoulder. Mobility in the lane with stretch capability hitting pick/pop threes and baseline jumpers. Active on the offensive glass.

Daniel Hong (Barrington)

Hong is a 6’2” point guard that had a strong summer and fall. Crisp ball handler and creative passer that makes plays in the lane getting others involved along with finishing on his own. Plus shooter with his crisp looking jump shot from three especially pulling up.

Max Love (St. Charles North)

Love is a skilled 6’4” combo forward who is a good looking three point shooter with a clean and fluid release from beyond the arc. Long and rangy frame with solid athleticism. Length plays well on the defensive end.

Joevonn Mccottry (Riverside Brookfield)

This 6’2” long and rangy guard has a thin frame. Smooth ball handler and has a free and easy release on his shot from beyond the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="863602" first="Jamauri" last="Winfrey"] (Peoria Richwoods)

Winfrey is a 6’2” undersized small forward that makes up for his lack of ideal height with his long arms and strong upper body. Physical in the paint doing most of his damage on the glass and on quick moves in the paint.
