We’re here to answer the question of, “Who are the best 2023 best prospects in the Louisville area?”

What are the stipulations? None, really. Regardless of position, here are the best Sophomores in the city (in my opinion). This is based off last season’s performance along with their play in the Bluegrass Fall League and Invite League.

[player_tooltip player_id="932764" first="Kaleb" last="Glenn"], Male - A top 50 player nationally, Kaleb had a strong showing in the fall after taking most of the spring and summer off due to no AAU. I've always like Kaleb as a prospect and firmly believe if he ends up 6'8 or bigger, he's going to be one of the highest ranked kids to come out of Kentucky, ever.

[player_tooltip player_id="1043600" first="George" last="Washington III"], CAL - An import from Texas who arrived over the summer, GWIII is going to be in the mix for top guard in the city regardless of class. All-State in Texas last season, Washington is going to be given the keys to the CAL offense this season and should start adding high major offers soon.

[player_tooltip player_id="1022269" first="Cyr" last="Malonga"], Evangel Christian - Malonga is another import to the city this summer and has racked up a ton of D1 offers in the last 9 months based on his potential as a rim running big man who protects the rim on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="932766" first="Gabe" last="Sisk"], Ballard - Gabe has as much potential as any freshman in the class and should have plenty of scholarship offers in his future. With his athleticism, I'd love to see Sisk become an elite level defender over the next year or so.

[player_tooltip player_id="932793" first="Ondre" last="Wicks"], Western - This one may surprise some folks but Ondre was a star in the Invite and is primed for a big season for a Western squad that has as much or more young talent than any school in the city. Wicks could end up a MM+ D1 player by graduation.

[player_tooltip player_id="932772" first="Jack" last="Edelen"], Ballard - The floor general of one of the best offenses in the state, Jack is highly skilled and creates easy shots for teammates while also being able to make some extremely tough shots in his own right.

[player_tooltip player_id="932773" first="Keith" last="Robinson"], DeSales - Mr. Blue Collar, Keith is a small forward or big wing depending on how you look at him. He maximizes his talent and athleticism and is a growth spurt away from being a legitimate D1 recruit.

[player_tooltip player_id="932774" first="Zamareon" last="McCown"], PRP - McCown can really score the ball and may actually be better off the ball than he is as a true point. Zee has PRP in position to compete for district and regional titles for the next 3 years.

[player_tooltip player_id="932781" first="Cam" last="McClain"], Trinity - Cam's game continues to evolve. He was primarily a shooter last high school season but played more with the ball in his hands this summer and in the fall league. He could be the best player on the Trinity roster this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1022270" first="Trent" last="Hinkle"], Western - What he lacks in size, Trent makes up for with IQ and feel for the game. The brains behind the Warrior offense, Trent has a chance to end up one of the top guards in an extremely talented group city-wide.

TBD

[player_tooltip player_id="1065569" first="Meechie" last="White"], [player_tooltip player_id="932785" first="Jamal" last="Chambers"], and [player_tooltip player_id="1022262" first="Kyran" last="Tilley"], Male - It's a cop out to list all 3 together but they will eventually separate themselves over the next 3 years. All bring different things to the game. Meechie has been called "the Next Rondo" by some while Chambers has shined in camp settings this fall and Tilley may be the best pure scorer of the three. With none of them playing much varsity last season, they're still figuring out their roles at Male. Any (or all) of the three could end up as the best prospect in the city by graduation. Going to be fun to watch them the next 3 years!

[player_tooltip player_id="1022271" first="Sosthene" last="Kamba"], Eastern - The great unknown after playing limited time as a freshman at Ballard, Sos has some D1 offers already and Eastern is banking on him replacing or even improving the production they got from James Jewel last season.
