Group 4 had some of the most exciting sectional finals last season with two games being won at the buzzer. The group is filled with talent as [player_tooltip player_id="896632" first="Michael" last="Bressler"] and [player_tooltip player_id="850359" first="Jordan" last="Price"] were both selected to First Team All-State. Group 4 is normally known for its strong guard play, but do not sleep on the frontcourt. Here are the top Group 4 forwards to watch this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="900301" first="Chris" last="Rubayo"], 6’9 PF Montgomery 2021

Rubayo is one of the top big men in the Skyland Conference and will prove it this season. The Lafayette commit knows how to get open down low and has a nice touch around the basket. Rubayo is more than just a back to the basket big as he can step away from the basket and hit jumpers. He uses his length on the defensive end to swat shots around the basket and rip down rebounds. Montgomery has a formidable duo in Rubayo and [player_tooltip player_id="901990" first="Ryan" last="Curry"] as they look to lead the Cougars to a deep postseason run.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013052" first="Logan" last="Howland"], 6’7 PF Westfield 2022

The Blue Devils have a trio of talented big men in [player_tooltip player_id="1018553" first="Jack" last="Spellman"], [player_tooltip player_id="1018572" first="Sean" last="Logan"] and Howland. The latter is a rugged forward prospect who plays with good footwork down low. Howland has a nice touch around the basket and uses his strong frame to draw contact. He is tough to box out on both ends of the floor and talks on the defensive end. Westfield should be one of the teams to watch in Union County with its big man trio.

[player_tooltip player_id="902742" first="Delroy" last="Smith"], 6’6 PF Newark East Side 2023

Smith had a good debut varsity season, but is ready for a big leap this season. The burly 6’6 forward runs the floor well and can finish around the basket. Smith uses his body to finish through contact and has a good shooting form at the free throw line. He is a strong rebounder and knows how to move his feet on the defensive end. Smith is a tough power forward prospect who is a breakout candidate in Essex County.

[player_tooltip player_id="900332" first="Chad" last="Martini"], 6’6 PF Watchung Hills 2021

Martini was selected to First Team All-Group 4 last season and should do so again this season. The Cornell football commit is a rebounding machine as opponents have not found a way to box him out. Martini is a good passer, which makes him capable of running the offense on the perimeter. He has a nice touch around the basket and is unafraid of drawing contact. Martini is a skilled point forward prospect who is ready for a strong final season at Watchung Hills.

[player_tooltip player_id="931028" first="Jack" last="Seidler"], 6’5 SF Marlboro 2022

The Mustangs were seconds away from taking home a sectional title and they should be in the mix for one again with Seidler returning. The 6’5 wing has a nice touch around the basket and can handle the ball on the perimeter. Seidler has a nice shooting stroke and his range extends out to the three-point line. He is a good rebounder and an underrated passer. Seidler’s ability to affect the game in multiple ways make Marlboro a dangerous team in the Shore Conference.

Other Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="1013072" first="Jalen" last="Pichardo"], 6’4 SF East Brunswick 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="929514" first="Zubair" last="Lee"], 6’5 SF Eastern 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="901949" first="Justin" last="Soranno"], 6’5 SF Central Regional 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="1013095" first="Jayden" last="Holmes Cotter"], 6’5 PF Freehold Township 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="901975" first="Zy’ree" last="Beverly"], 6’6 PF Elizabeth 2022
