Class 1A – Region 3 Preview

<p>Class 1-Region 3 will will play in the Upper State when it comes to playoff time. The region will have 8 teams this coming season more than all the other regions in Class 1A. </p> <p><em><strong>Predictions:</strong></em></p> <p><strong>Wagener-Salley HS</strong> - The War Eagles have plenty of talent returning this season for Head Coach Mark Burnitz. </p> <p><strong>North HS - </strong>The Eagles will have the Preseason Player of the Year in [player_tooltip player_id="840216" first="Literyian" last="Tyler"]. </p> <p><strong>Denmark-Olar HS - </strong>The Vikings will look to stay on top after the great summer play of<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="930636" first="Zachary" last="Davis"]</strong> on the Grassroots Circuit. </p> <p><strong>Blackville-Hilda HS - </strong>Assistant Coach Andre Simmons will be the interim coach this coming season for the Hawks. </p> <p><strong>Calhoun County HS - </strong>Head Coach Zam Fredrick will have the new look Saints ready to play on every game night. Davis is the quarterback for the Fighting Hawks (3-0) football team. Davis has been on the varsity basketball team since his 8th grade season. Tyler has scored over 1,300 career points entering his senior season. Tyler a left-handed scoring wing has piled up for all 3 seasons on varsity for the Eagles. Davis had a great summer on the Grassroots Circuit running with Big Shots SC 16U. Davis a long and rangy guard plays the game with a great motor and wingspan. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927566" first="Antwan" last="Baker"] (2021) - Wagener-Salley HS </strong></p> <p>Baker averaged 15.7 ppg, 3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 steals last season. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927524" first="AJ" last="Swedenburg"] (2021) - Wagener-Salley HS </strong></p> <p>Swedenburg has been making a name for himself since his freshman season for the War Eagles. Swedenburg really excels on the football field as wide receiver / defensive back. Swedenburg averaged 15.4 ppg last season. Swedenburg in a recent football game vs Ridge Spring-Monetta picked off 2 passes and ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Perry now has reclassified and moved to Cape Fear Christian in Erwin, NC. Brunson Jr now attends Gray Collegiate.
