One of those events, the Pangos All West Frosh/Soph Camp was held this weekend in Utah. The camp featured some of the top talent in the classes of 2023 and 2024 on the West Coast.
Here’s a look at some of the local Southern California players who participated in the camp.
1. Kenneth Bailey – Crean Lutheran 2023
Bailey is a solid scoring point guard. He’s an excellent ball-handler who can find the seams in the defense and get to his spots on the floor. Dribbles under control and can knife his way into the lane. He has a solid three-point shot and is a good spot up shooter. Good defensive player who can read passing lanes and start the fast break off a steal.
2. Dylan Metoyer – Sierra Canyon 2023
Metoyer has all the makings to be a solid scoring guard. He didn’t play as a freshman for the Trailblazers, but with the departing seniors, he should figure to be more in the rotation. He’s a solid ball-handler and a crafty finisher at the rim. Strong in the open court and very quick. Able to get into the paint. He has a nice little scoop shot once he’s in the lane. Good elevation on his jumpshot.
3. Gavin Hightower – Heritage Christian 2024
An incoming freshman, Hightower is an overall high IQ player who already has a good feel for the game. He’s a lead point guard in the making who has strong court vision an awareness for such a young player. While his strength lies in his playmaking, he can score too. He’s quick off the dribble and can get the rim with ease. He finishes strong around the basket and over taller defenders.
4. Andrew Meadow – West Ranch 2023
Meadow is scoring forward with good size. He has solid footwork on the offensive end, especially when he gets in to the paint. He’s strong and he can finish over most defenders. Knows how to use his body to absorb contact and finish plays. He’s able to handle the ball and can make plays off the dribble when looking to score. He can also step outside and hit three-pointers.
