One of those events, the Pangos All West Frosh/Soph Camp was held this weekend in Utah. The camp featured some of the top talent in the classes of 2023 and 2024 on the West Coast.
Here’s a look at some of the local Southern California players who participated in the camp.
1. Curtis Williams Curtis Williams 6'6" | SF Etiwanda | 2023 State #159 Nation CA-S – Etiwanda 2023
Williams has a solid off the dribble game and he can finish at the rim. He’s a real good defensive player. Can lock up on man defense and has good length and size to contest shots on perimeter. Also contests shots at the rim. Strong shot blocker, alters others too. Can recover if beat off the dribble and still contest the shot. Good quickness. Plays with a lot of energy.
2. Jimmy Oladokun Jr. – Damien 2023
Oladokun is a versatile big man with some wing skills. He can act as rim protector in the paint but he also has the length and speed to be able to defend players on the perimeter. He can stretch the floor with his outside shooting. Has a nice midrange jump shot. He can finish strong around the rim and he crashes the glass well.
3. Darius Carr Darius Carr 6'3" | SG Fairfax | 2023 State #63 Nation CA-S – St Bernard 2023
I’ve seen Carr play quite a bit this past season and his growth from last summer to now has been tremendous. He’s really coming into his own as a lead guard capable of running a team’s offense. He can also switch to shooting guard and look for his shot. He’s looking to be more aggressive offensively and he can finish strong at the rim. Good perimeter defensive player.
4. Kollen Murphy Kollen Murphy 6'2" | PG Colony | 2023 State CA-S – Colony 2023
Murphy also looks like he’s going to be a solid lead guard. He’s a solid ball-handler and good facilitator who looks to get his teammates easy scoring opportunities. Strong court vision and poise. Nice change of pace. Can run the fast break effectively and he is very quick off the dribble. Also a solid defensive player.
