We will be breaking down each conference starting with the Class of 2021 first to show college coaches who they need to be placing a value on heading into the year.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these seniors-to-be catch the attention of prospective college coaches.
Cooper Dejean – OABCIG
For a moment, pretend as if Cooper Dejean is not one of the top football players in the state, and he did not already commit to the University of Iowa.
Dejean also had coaches around the state looking at him for his basketball skills after averaging 25.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and four assists per game for the Falcons. He shot 52 percent from the field, 31 percent from deep and nearly 72 percent at the line, posting a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
If there was a chance you could get him away from becoming a Hawkeye, coaches would be packing themselves inside the gym this winter to see Dejean.
Garrett Trapp Garrett Trapp 6'1" | CG River Valley | 2021 State IA – River Valley
River Valley started the year very strong, winning nine of 11 overall. They finished 15-8, falling to Remsen St. Mary’s in the substate quarterfinal.
Now, the Wolverines are primed for another big year with the return of Garrett Trapp Garrett Trapp 6'1" | CG River Valley | 2021 State IA and a handful of others.
Trapp posted just over 21 points a night as a junior, shooting 50 percent from the field. He also made nearly 37 percent of his three-pointers with 103 rebounds, 54 steals and 50 assists.
Dalton Dubois – Siouxland Christian
Siouxland Christian’s Dalton Dubois was one of the top scorers a year ago, and that should continue this coming winter.
The Class of 2021 standout scored 316 total points, shooting 43 percent from the floor. He was effective from long-range, making 44 three-pointers while also adding 89 rebounds, 54 assists and 51 steals.
Bo Clausen – Ridge View
Ridge View had a nice finish to this past season, ending the year with nine wins in all.
The Raptors will lean on returning scorer Bo Clausen to continue that success. He posted just over 11 points per game as a junior, shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 44 percent from deep.
Clausen, who started 14 of 22 games, also had 119 rebounds and finished with 41 made triples.
Tyler Towne – River Valley
Another big returning piece for River Valley is Tyler Towne, one of the top rebounders in the conference.
Towne posted 214 boards in all last year, including almost three a night on the offensive end. He added 285 points on 52 percent shooting with 43 steals, 41 assists, 37 blocks and 12 made three-pointers.
