Five more 2021 West Virginia Prospects who were set to Explode this AAU Season

[player_tooltip player_id="977508" first="Mason" last="Pinkett"]- George Washington 6’2” CG

Pinkett is someone I really enjoyed watching this year. He is a quick, scoring guard who is going to come at you every play. Offensively, Pinkett is always in attack mode and looking to get to the rim. He also shoots the mid range well off the catch and off the bounce, and extends his range well far past the HS 3 point line. He has an high basketball IQ and knows when to pass vs. when to shoot. Mason has a good handle and does a great job at limiting and making the most of his dribbles. Mason is a solid distributor. Defensively, he does a good job at applying pressure in the various defenses that GW plays. He is able to defend either guard spot but is much better at defending 1’s. Low major D1’s and D2’s should reach out!

[player_tooltip player_id="977521" first="Troy" last="Battle"]- Morgantown 6’2” SG

Battle is a very intriguing prospect and is one of my favorite players to watch in state. Offensively, Battle has an array of skills: he can get to the bucket, hit mid range jumpers off the catch or off the bounce, can step out and shoot the 3 and is unselfish and knows his role. He does a majority of his damage offensively in the mid range area. Many players don’t have mid range game’s anymore, but that is not the case with Battle at all. While what he does on the offensive end is impressive, it may be his defensive abilities that separate him apart from his peers. Battle sits in a stance, moves well laterally, and defends with his chest. He is alert off the ball, plays angles, reads passing lanes, and takes advantage of sloppy ball-handlers by forcing them into uncomfortable positions. He exerts a lot of energy on the defensive end of the floor, always stepping up to the challenge of guarding the opponents best perimeter threat. D2’s and NAIA’s need to take a look.

[player_tooltip player_id="977505" first="Aiden" last="Satterfield"]- Charleston Catholic 6’6” SF

Satterfield is someone who was for the most part unheard of until April 2019. He was unranked on my other website until December 2018, coming in at #25. Since then, Aiden has emerged as a top 10 player in the state, and the top ranked WVSSAC player in the class of 2021. Offensively, Aiden can play above the rim and show off his bounce, is a solid finisher with contact, has a great mid range game, shoots the 3 ball well, has a good handle and is a willing passer. He does a great job at allowing the game to come to him and not forcing anything. I watched 7 games in total of Aiden’s (3 in person, 4 on film) and he did a great job at being Charleston Catholic’s leader and taking good, smart shots regardless of the score. Defensively, he does a good job using his length to alter shots and bother ball handlers. Aiden is currently receiving low major D1 and D2 interest and has an offer from the University of Charleston, I was expecting him to come into his senior season with multiple offers from low and mid major D1 programs.

[player_tooltip player_id="977518" first="Carson" last="Poffenberger"]- Morgantown 6’7” PF

Poffenberger is someone who was for the most part unheard of until November 2019. He was unranked on my other website until March 2020, coming in at #22. Offensively, Poffenberger shows great patience and displays a good post game when going over his left shoulder. Carson has good hands and is a great cutter. Although he does a majority of his scoring around the rim, he is also able to stretch the floor as he is a reliable shooter out to about 20 feet when his feet are set. Carson excels at hitting teammates on backdoor cuts and is a solid passer out of the post. Defensively, Carson does a great job of being physical and using his big body. Poffenberger is a good shot blocker and has active hands. D2’s need to give him a look.

[player_tooltip player_id="977503" first="Saliou" last="Nguer"]- Beckley Prep 6’9” PF

I fully expected the Beckley Prep big man to blow up during AAU. Nguer is a very intriguing prospect. He is a legit 6’9”, moves well, has great length and is skilled. Nguer has all of the tools to be a great asset at a mid major from day 1. Offensively, he has a good mid/low post game. He has a good right handed hook and does a great job of using ball fakes and being patient. Saliou also is able to stretch the defense. He shoots the ball well out to about 20 feet. Defensively, he has great timing when crashing the glass and for blocks. Nguer also moves well laterally and does a great job at picking up pick and roll ball handlers until the guard bumps him off. Currently, he holds one offer from Akron University. I feel that he would be a good player in the MAC, even though he could definitely play in a better league. Saliou is a mid major D1 prospect.
