1. Jeffery Brazziel Jeffery Brazziel 6'4" | SF Martin Luther | 2022 #159 Nation AZ – Small Forward – Milwaukee Destiny
Brazziel didn’t play varsity last season due to his transfer, but we’ve seen enough in AAU in order to keep him at the top spot. Arguably the state’s most dominant scorer, Brazziel makes getting to the bucket look easy. A long and smooth lefty who can glide to the rim, Brazziel has a very quick first step. As his range continues to expand, Brazziel is only becoming more dangerous as a scorer. Should he begin to conquer the other areas of the game — defense, rebounding, leadership, etc. — there’s a good chance Brazziel can lock up the No. 1 spot the rest of the way.
2. Leon Bond Leon Bond 6'5" | SF Wauwatosa East | 2022 State #62 Nation WI – Forward – Wauwatosa East
Brazziel’s biggest challenger right now, Bond just continues to get better and better. The 6-foot-5 forward is a terrific athlete with a heckuva motor. Bond is extremely intriguing in transition with his ability to get up and down the floor or handle the ball in transition if needed and get coast-to-coast. Bond has a knack for turning defense into offense, whether it’s blocking a shot and igniting a fast break or playing the passing lanes and taking off the other way. Right now, Bond is a bit of tweener and limited to scoring around the rim, but he’s showing some signs of being able to increase his versatility.
3. Seth Trimble Seth Trimble 6'3" | PG Menomonee Falls | 2022 State #50 Nation WI – Point Guard – Menomonee Falls
The best pure point guard in Wisconsin’s 2021 class, Trimble brings many qualities you want in your floor general. A lead by example guard who makes other around him better and knows when it’s time to take over, Trimble balances the role as a scorer and facilitator well. Also a tremendous athlete, Trimble can do some crazy things above the rim for a 5-foot-11 guard. Inch-for-inch, he might be the best jumper in this class.
4. Jack Rose Jack Rose 6'5" | SG Westosha Central | 2022 State #213 Nation WI – Shooting Guard – Westosha Central
Rose had a tremendous summer, which initially pushed him to No. 3 on this list. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard is one of the best shooters in his class and a three-level scorer. Needs to improve his athleticism if he’s going to play his way to the high major level, but has a knack for scoring the ball, can create his own shot, and knock it down against tight defense. Also a blue collar prospect, Rose takes pride in making winning plays on the defensive end and scrapping for loose balls.
5. Steven Clay Steven Clay 6'5" | SG Menomonee Falls | 2022 State #193 Nation WI – Wing – Menomonee Falls
The guy I’m worried I’m most wrong about, Clay remains an intriguing prospect and someone I can see being the No. 1 player in this class if it all comes together. Clay has that type of upside when you factor in his length and natural scoring ability to create just about any shot he wants. The 6-foot-5 wing reminds me a bit of former Michigan star Charles Matthews — very long arms that allow him to just shoot over the top of defenders with ease and always be in rhythm.
6. Maximus Nelson Maximus Nelson 6'7" | PF Appleton North | 2022 State #236 Nation WI – Forward – Appleton North
Nelson had a really good sophomore season. Now it needs to translate in AAU. He joined a new team late in the summer, which perhaps contributed to a lack of aggressiveness as Nelson could have just been trying to fit in. However, when the 6-foot-8 forward is on, he’s one of the toughest players to match up with in the state. A deadly catch-and-shoot big man, Nelson can fill it up from 3-point range. He’s shown some flashes, but if his post skill set and ability to face up and attack the rim improves, there’s not a lot standing in his way of a top 3-4 prospect in this class.
7. Armani Jones Armani Jones 5'8" | PG Brown Deer | 2022 State WI – Point Guard – Brown Deer
Never gonna knock a guy too much because of their size. Jones is only about 5-foot-8, but the Brown Deer floor general has plenty of skill and speed on the ball to get by. Factor in his dangerous 3-point shooting ability and extended range and I’m not sure his size doesn’t actually play to his advantage with his ability to make defenders pick their poison.
8. Danilo Jovanovich Danilo Jovanovich 6'6" | PF Whitnall | 2022 State WI – Forward – Whitnall
Jovanovich had a breakout sophomore season and we’re eager to see how it will translate on a more regional/national scale if/when AAU returns. The 6-foot-6 forward has some excellent mismatch nightmare potential. Jovanovich can play with his back to the basket, attack from the wing perimeter, and stretch the floor as a shooter. A plus-length forward who plays with a lot of confidence and moxy, Jovanovich has a noticeable killer instinct.
9. Jackson Paveletzke Jackson Paveletzke 6'1" | CG Kimberly | 2022 State WI – Shooting Guard – Kimberly
The only guy in the top 10 we’re going to move until the travel season returns, Paveletzke has emerged on the radar of a number of Division 1 schools early on. A skilled and smooth scoring guard, Paveletzke was a key performer on a senior-laden Papermaker squad. He’s going to wow anybody with strength or athleticism, but Paveletzke has a scoring mentality, a feel for the game, and a deep bag of tricks when the ball is in his possession.
10. Donovan Short Donovan Short 6'9" | PF Denmark | 2022 State WI – Power Forward – Denmark
Terrific size and mobility for a young post prospect. The 6-foot-9 forward can score inside and out. A consistent 3-point shooter who can also bang inside and play through contact, Short possesses solid post footwork, the ability to handle the rock and create from the perimeter, and the ability to run the floor and get out ahead in transition.
On the Cusp: Amari Jedkins Amari Jedkins 6'7" | PF Racine Case | 2022 State WI (Racine Case), Luke Haertle Luke Haertle 6'2" | SG Lake Country Lutheran | 2022 State WI (Lake Country Lutheran), Ashton Janowski Ashton Janowski 6'1" | CG Pewaukee | 2022 State WI (Pewaukee), Andrew Alia Andrew Alia 6'2" | SG Kenosha St. Joseph | 2022 State WI (Kenosha St. Joseph), Jack Campion Jack Campion 5'10" | PG Milton | 2022 State WI (Milton), Casey Verhagen Casey Verhagen 6'0" | PG Sheboygan Area Lutheran | 2022 State WI (Sheboygan Lutheran), Andrew Rohde Andrew Rohde 6'6" | SG Brookfield Central | 2022 State WI (Brookfield Central)
