1. What to do about Joshua Valencia? Valencia certainly has the production. As a freshman, he threw up 16 and 8. The level of competition is the question. The 1A stud has to be somewhere in the rankings, but the victor of the battle between production vs competition will determine where he eventually lands.
2. The Sterling Knox, Marcus Fizer Jr Marcus Fizer Jr 6'6" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ , Osiris Grady dilemma. – I don’t think much separates these 3. Knox and Fizer’s size and shooting ability make them intriguing. Grady’s height and athleticism give him the nod in the potential category. It will probably come down to an 11th-hour decision that decides where these 3 land.
3. 4A non varsity vs 2A Varsity – Specifically, how do you evaluate the production of Elijah Burney Elijah Burney 6'1" | PG Centennial | 2023 State NV (featured image) as a freshmen 4A player vs the production of Jake Bevalqua who was one of the leading scorers for a Meadows squad that reached the 2A State Semis? Burney put up impressive numbers for the Centennial freshmen squad. Not much separates them with the eye test. Both are good shooters with a quality handle.
4. Which c/o 2023 player stands to lose the most from the grassroots shutdown? Keenan Bey Keenan Bey 6'6" | SF Bishop Gorman | 2023 State NV . Bey has the size, the skill and the bloodlines to rise in the rankings. He bided his time on the Bishop Gorman JV team last year and was set to have a breakout summer. Currently listed at #7, I truly believe had he played like he did during the JV season against tough grassroots competition, he would have probably risen into the top 5.
5. How high will the first-timers in the rankings rise? – As to be expected, there will be several first-timers entering the rankings this time around. This includes players like Giali Chapman, Nakalya Fabello, and the aforementioned Valencia. Figuring out how far they rise, will take some more detailed film study, production review, and gut feeling.
