Burlington County is one of the better basketball counties in New Jersey with Burlington City repeating as Central Jersey Group 1 champions. Moorestown spent most of the season in the top 20 and the Quakers should be a top team again in 2020-21. The county is filled with talented guards capable of carrying teams. Here are the top guards in Burlington County.

[player_tooltip player_id="931032" first="Jamaal" last="Morris"], 5’10 PG Burlington City 2022

The Blue Devils have been one of the top teams in Group 1 over the last two seasons, but they will have to replace their all-time leading scorer in [player_tooltip player_id="850361" first="DJ" last="Woodbury"]. Morris was the team’s top three-point shooter last season and will be tasked with becoming a more complete scorer in 2020-21. The 5’10 guard has a quick release on his shot and can knock down three-pointers in bunches. Morris has a good handle and is capable of running the offense. Burlington City should compete for the Central Jersey Group 1 title again with Morris leading the way.

[player_tooltip player_id="929529" first="Daniel" last="Thomas"], 5’10 PG Burlington Township 2021

The Falcons were seconds away from making their second straight appearance in the Central Jersey Group 3 title game and they should be a tough team to beat next season. Thomas ran the offense for Burlington Township, but is also capable of scoring the basketball. He is tough to contain off the bounce and knows how to finish around the basket. Thomas is a scrappy guard who plays tough defense and fights for rebounds. Burlington Township returns Jordan Dotson down low, giving the Falcons a solid duo for 2020-21.

[player_tooltip player_id="933917" first="Bryce" last="Butler"], 5’7 PG Life Center Academy 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="900308" first="Wesley" last="Robinson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="901963" first="Justin" last="Hawkins"] are both capable of running the offense, but Butler is the point guard for Life Center Academy. The 5’7 point guard is lightning quick and is tough to contain off the bounce. Butler can finish around the basket and has a good-looking stroke on his jumper. He is a good passer and plays with quick hands on defense. Life Center Academy should be one of the top teams in Burlington County again next season with Butler returning at point guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="901959" first="Marcus" last="Gaffney"], 6’2 SG Northern Burlington 2022

The Greyhounds were led by Lorenzo Repack in 2019-20 and they will need to replace his scoring in 2020-21. Gaffney was tasked with running the offense last season, but will be asked to take on a bigger scoring load. The 6’2 guard knows how to attack the basket from the perimeter and has a solid mid-range game. Gaffney is a good rebounder for a guard and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. Northern Burlington will be looking to win more than 14 games in 2020-21 with Gaffney leading the scoring attack.

Gabriele Bisceglie, 6’3 CG Holy Cross Prep 2021

The Crusaders lose [player_tooltip player_id="896450" first="Gianmarco" last="Arletti"] and [player_tooltip player_id="896664" first="Giovanni" last="Cessel"] to graduation, but they have a solid 2021 duo in Bisceglie and [player_tooltip player_id="933735" first="Stefano" last="Faloppa"]. The former will be tasked with running the offense and has the ability to do so with his ability to pass the ball. Bisceglie can stretch the defense with his shooting and can score around the basket. He has a good handle and is a solid on-ball defender. Holy Cross Prep needs Bisceglie and Faloppa to step up their games in 2020-21 if the Crusaders want to compete for the Non-Public B South title.

Mason Williams, 5’6 PG Delran 2022

Shawn Congelton, SG Doane Academy 2021
