We take a deeper look at some of the top shooters from behind the three-point arc in the class of 2021 which has plenty of talented shooters. This will be a two part series. Keep an eye out on these players once basketball returns!

Caleb Clark | Faith Christian

Clark has a solid junior season for Faith Christian, he was second on the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game to go along with his 3.8 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.0 SPG while shooting 44% from three-point range (51/115). He is a player that will have more of a role next year for the Eagles as several key seniors graduated this spring. At 6’4 he has good size at the guard position and moves well, he's ready to shoot on the catch and is a rhythm shooter who has a nice follow through to his jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id="770411" first="Dylan" last="Carter"] | Chatfield

Carter will enter his senior season with plenty of veteran leadership, he will end his career when its all said and done as a four-year varsity player for Chatfield. As a junior this year he averaged 12.0 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 SPG and shot 43% from deep on the season going (56/131). Through three varsity seasons, he’s shooting 40% from behind the arc (104/259) as well as 81% from the foul line (95/117). He does a nice job of relocating himself on the perimeter for the open shot and has good range on the deep ball. Keep an eye on this team next year as they return a large part of their roster including the top two leading scorers in Carter and Jacobson.

[player_tooltip player_id="770437" first="Colton" last="Gillingham"] | Greeley West

Greeley West will return two out of their three main threats from last year, including Gillingham who averaged a team high in both points at 19.3 PPG and rebounds with 5.7 RPG while shooting 43% from behind the arc (50/117). He is a guard that can score from all three levels, shooting 48% from inside the arc (105/220) and 79% from the charity strip (56/71). He is a strong ball handler with good footwork that is able to create his own shot as well as does a nice job of moving without the ball and has a quick release to hit shot. One thing I like about his game is the use of ball and shot fakes to get his defender off balance. He reads the defense well and is a willing passer with a high basketball IQ.

[player_tooltip player_id="965754" first="Colin" last="Westfall"] | Lewis-Palmer

Westfall had a breakout junior season for Lewis-Palmer this year, he averaged 14.8 PPG, 3.8 APG, 3.8 RPG, 1.5 SPG and shot (45/106) from deep for 42%. He is dynamic guard that can score from all three levels, he also shot 42% from inside the arc (85/204) and 83% from the foul line on the year (66/80). He's a strong ball handler who can create off the dribble for himself, see's the floor extremely well and has a quick release to his jumper. Westfall has great touch on the ball as well around the rim and does a nice job on the defensive side of the ball getting deflections that often lead to transition baskets. With a young team, keep an out out for Westfall and Lewis-Palmer next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="608058" first="Julian" last="Hammond"] | Cherry Creek

Hammond just jumped into the number one ranking spot for the class of 2021 and deservedly so, the standout junior averaged an impressive 21.9 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.6 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG while shooting 41% from distance (46/111), 84% from the foul line (76/91) as well as 55% from inside that arc (123/224). His 21.9 points per game ranked in 4th in all of 5A, and 1st in a very tough Centennial League in which he is the focal point for opposing defenses nightly, he also earned Player of the Year in the league as well. He was selected first team all-state this year as a junior by CHSAA. He is a skill guard that can score from all three levels and takes what the defense gives him. He has one of the smoothest strokes from deep that often looks effortless as well as a great mid-range game in the paint. He has great touch on the ball and strong footwork down in the paint, he does a great job on both ends of the court rebounding the ball as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="917029" first="Jimmy" last="Starry"] | Boulder

Starry will be one of the main senior leaders for Boulder next year after several key seniors will graduate this spring, he averaged 8.8 PPG, 2.2 APG, 1.8 RPG, 1.1 SPG as a junior and shot 42% from behind the arc (50/119). It will be fun to see how he adopts to the new leading role next year. Starry has decent size at the guard position and is always ready to shoot the ball, he does a nice job of coming of screens and reading his defender. He's a willing passer with great vision and feel for the game. He's a smart player that does not force many mistakes, he ended the year with only 37 turnovers in the 25 games he played in. It will be fun to see how he develops into more of a leading role this next season for Boulder.

[player_tooltip player_id="916989" first="Ryan" last="Moe"] | Thomas Jefferson

Moe is a veteran guard for Thomas Jefferson who is a three year varsity player and as a junior this season he averaged a career high 12.5 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.3 APG, 2.4 SPG, shooting 38% from three-point range (58/152) on the year. He is a high IQ player who makes the right reads on the floor and has continued to improve his scoring, becoming more of a threat on the floor at all times. His 12.5 points per game ranked him second on the team behind senior guard Hornbuckle, Thomas Jefferson also has a few other key role players who will be graduating this spring which will leave Moe to carry the way. He's a tough defender on the other end as well who takes it personal and does not allow opposing guards to get easy looks.
