SubscribeLAGUNA NIGUEL – Any college coaches – regardless of any NCAA, NAIA or community college level – in the market for a quality jump shooter from the SoCal Class of 2020 would do well do peruse the following list.
Some of these guys also come equipped with point-guard skill and feel, as well:
Nick Bowden (6-0/St. Bernard): A leg injury (suffered in first game of Classic at Damien on Dec. 26) sidelined him a month-plus of his senior season.
But Bowden, who was the Most Outstanding Player after leading his team to the Trevor Ariza Class Tourney title at Westchester, may be have been the most prolific deep jump shooter among any of the 2020 PGs in the state.
Jake Hlywiak Jake Hlywiak 6'3" | SG Valencia | 2020 State CA-S (6-2/Valencia): Here is my choice as the best “pure jump shooter” anywhere in SoCal in the Class of 2020 – the speed and mechanics on his release are second to none.
Jordan Lopez Jordan Lopez 5'9" | CG Bonita | 2020 State CA-S (5-8/Bonita): Lopez (pictured) was maybe the most under-appreciated shooter – and point guard – in Southern California this past season while leading the Bearcats to a 28-4 record. Two of the losses came in the CIF Southern Section 2A semifinals and State Southern Regional D-II second round. His release is nearly as quick as is Jake Hlywiak Jake Hlywiak 6'3" | SG Valencia | 2020 State CA-S ’s.
Adrian McIntyre Adrian McIntyre 6'1" | SG Saugus | 2020 State CA-S (6-2/Saugus): He’s probably more “scorer” than “pure jump shooter”. But the jumper has to be respected and set’s the table for a lot of either-director drives to the rim.

(6-1/Beverly Hills): Another of the best of the “under-the-radar crew” in SoCal for three varsity seasons for Coach Jarvis Turner’s Normans. He was the Ocean League POY after his team went 23-5 and lost a second-round, CIF SS Division 1 game to host Mayfair and

Snookey Wiginton (5-8/Ribet Academy): He helped the Fighting Frogs to a combined 57-6 record over the past two seasons with a couple of CIF SS crowns and a 2019 state title. He gets marvelous lift on his jump shot which helps enable him to get his jumper off over much taller defenders with accuracy.
