Which 2021 prospects shined bright in the 2019-20 season? Prep Hoops Wisconsin answers that question by releasing the all-state junior team:
First Team:
Patrick Baldwin Jr. Patrick Baldwin Jr. 6'9" | SF Sussex Hamilton | 2021 State #2 Nation WI — Sussex Hamilton — SF
Many media outlets tabbed Baldwin as an All-American, so it would be silly not to label him a first team all-state selection. The five-star small forward scored 24.3 points and grabbed 10.8 rebounds per game as a junior. Baldwin — who has been recruited by virtually every college program in America — will go down as one of the all-time Wisconsin greats.
David Joplin David Joplin 6'8" | SF Brookfield | 2021 State #54 Nation WI — Brookfield Central — SF
Joplin had a stellar junior campaign. The Brookfield Central small forward averaged 23.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per contest. When the Lancers needed a bucket, Joplin was typically the guy to step up and deliver.
Tyrese Hunter Tyrese Hunter 5'11" | PG Racine St. Catherine's | 2021 State #63 Nation WI — Racine St. Catherines — PG
Hunter seems to be developing into the prospect that most people thought he could be. Behind Baldwin, the St. Cats shooting guard has become the most sought out prospect in the state’s junior class. Hunter tallied 21.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in the Angel’s 25-0 season.
Brandin Podziemski Brandin Podziemski 6'6" | SG Saint John's Northwestern Academy | 2021 State #232 Nation WI — SJNMA — SG
Podziemski put up some of the best numbers in the state as a junior. The SJNMA sharpshooter averaged 27.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest. High major Division One programs should be monitoring Podzimski’s progress as he heads into his final high school basketball season.
Cameron Palesse Cameron Palesse 6'3" | CG Waukesha West | 2021 State #249 Nation WI — Waukesha West — PG
After losing multiple college-bound seniors, Waukesha West knew that its hopes of winning rested on the shoulders of Palesse. With this added responsibility, the shooting guard thrived. He scored 24.5 points per game as a junior.
Second Team:
James Graham James Graham 6'9" | SF Nicolet | 2021 #59 Nation WI — Nicolet — SF
Graham could sneak into the top five of the rankings if he continues to play at a high level. After accepting the sidekick role on Nicolet’s 2018-19 squad, Graham broke out and turned into a star as a junior. In 23 games, Graham averaged 20.6 points.
Brayden Dailey Brayden Dailey 6'6" | SF Cuba City | 2021 State WI — Cuba City — SG
His jersey changed but his production never wavered. Leading Cuba City to an undefeated season, Dailey scored 23.2 points and snatched 9.6 boards per game. If the season was not canceled, Dailey and CC would have been in position to win the D4 championship.
Kobe Johnson Kobe Johnson 6'5" | PG Nicolet | 2021 State #240 Nation WI — Nicolet — PG
Johnson was the perfect point guard for the Knights this season. He was able to get his own bucket when needed, but more importantly, Johnson was able to find open teammates. His passing gift came in clutch many times for Nicolet. Johnson scored 19.6 points per game in his third season.
Cade Meyer Cade Meyer 6'8" | PF Monroe | 2021 State #237 Nation WI — Monroe — PF
When he wants to, Meyer is able to take over games. His strength, skill, and athleticism are just too much for most defenders to handle. After a really great AAU season, Meyer averaged 18.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Drew Biber Drew Biber 6'3" | SF Cedarburg | 2021 State WI — Cedarburg — SF
Biber had a really impressive junior season for Cedarburg. He averaged 20.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. The small forward has already caught the attention of a few D2 programs, but don’t be surprised if he starts earning some interest from more notable schools.
Third Team:
Logan Landers Logan Landers 6'9" | PF Cedarburg | 2021 State WI — Cedarburg — PF
Landers may be the closest thing to a true big man that Wisconsin has in the 2021 class. The Cedarburg power forward is simply bigger and stronger than most of the players he matches up against. Landers averaged 18.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this past season. He also just received his first Divison One scholarship offer from UW-Milwaukee.
Jakobe Thompson Jakobe Thompson 6'1" | PG Racine Case | 2021 State WI — Racine Case — PG
Thompson averaged more points per game as a sophomore, but he was much more efficient in his junior season. The point guard shot better from the field, free-throw line, and from behind the arc. Led by Thompson’s 19 points per game, Racine Case went 21-4.
Jayden Jackson Jayden Jackson 6'2" | SG Whitefish Bay | 2021 State WI — Whitefish Bay — SG
Jackson seems to get better and better each time he steps out onto the court. The Whitefish Bay guard was one of the best prospects in the North Shore Conference as a junior. He scored 19.7 points per game, which was good for fourth-best in the conference.
Grant Flory Grant Flory 6'5" | PF Wisconsin Rapids | 2021 State WI — Wisconsin Rapids — PF
Coming off a season-ending injury and playing with a new school, expectations for Flory were low. But, despite these troubles, the power forward had the best season of his career. He averaged 24.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Now that he has returned to form, Flory could start attracting some college programs.
Preston Ruedinger Preston Ruedinger 6'1" | PG Lourdes Academy | 2021 State WI — Lourdes Academy — PG
Ruedinger led Lourdes to a 22-3 record and a conference championship in his junior season. He averaged 27.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. The point guard has developed into one of the better overall scorers in the state.
