Five 2022 VA Prospects That Were Set To Introduce Themselves This Spring

Typically during the spring AAU season, rising juniors really began to start making a name for themselves in front of college coaches. Because of the coronavirus, they will not have that opportunity this year. Below are five prospects that were set to give an introduction to the recruiting world this spring.

6’1 [player_tooltip player_id="897404" first="Paul" last="Lewis"] | Bishop O’Connell

Paul is the younger brother of JMU star, Matt Lewis. Paul had a huge coming out party back at Hoophall this past winter. He led Bishop O’Connell to an upset win over Mater Dei where he finished with 30 points including an efficient 12 of 17 from the field. Coaches will want to get on Lewis early as he is projecting to become one of the next big stars out of the WCAC.

6’6 [player_tooltip player_id="815589" first="Lou" last="Hutchinson"] | Episcopal

Hutchinson has the chance to be one of the next stars to come out of Episcopal. He passes the body test standing at 6’6 filled with good athleticism and solid ball skills. He thrives in transition and does a good job of attacking the defense. Hutchinson will have more of a role going forward with Episcopal during his final two years of high school.

6’2 [player_tooltip player_id="815613" first="Saxby" last="Sunderland"] | Flint Hill

Sunderland found himself on the third team of our Virginia All-Sophomore team this year after a successful season at Flint Hill. Saxby was asked to do a lot this past year and we were looking forward to seeing what he was able to do against competition from across the country this spring to see where he exactly stands with the best of the best.

6’6 [player_tooltip player_id="815591" first="Wendell" last="Tomlin"] | Benedictine

Word began trickling earlier this year that Benedictine had some talented young pieces and Tomlin is one of them. Tomlin stands at 6’6 and has tremendous length which allows him to do a lot on the court. I was really curious to see what Tomlin could do this spring.

6’2 [player_tooltip player_id="815601" first="Garrett" last="Brennan"] | St. Stephens & St. Agnes

Garrett is a prospect that I am still learning about but he was intriguing during the VISAA State Tournament while helping St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes advance to the finals. He did not get a ton of minutes but contributed when he was able to step on the court. Look for Garrett to have a much bigger role next year for SSSA due to the graduation of the entire starting five.
