The CIF Semifinal game was as exciting as any game all season. Top seeded Sheldon rallied in the final minutes and held on at the end to get the win 59-58 against Dublin. The game was suppose to be played at Sheldon in Sacramento, because of the coronavirus scare the game turned out to be a home game for Dublin. Dublin executed it’s game plan throughout the game until the final minutes of the game. Sheldon’s defense went on lock down mode and contested everything. Here’s my take on the top players in this game.

Marcus Bagley 6’8 2020 (Arizona St) was the best player on the floor. The college ready Bagley displayed a mature game. He was dominant at times. He consistently knocked down deep 3’s. He scored the go ahead basket with 17 secs left to put Sheldon on top. He had a major block with seconds to go. 27 points, 8 rebs.

Dontrell Hewlett 6’3 2020 for Sheldon might be the most underrated player in NorCal. Hewlett only scored 8 points for the game. His contribution to this Sheldon team is a lot more important than just scoring. He made the game saving block at the end to preserve the win for the Huskies. He’ll be a key player as they move on.

[player_tooltip player_id="603824" first="Xavion" last="Brown"] 6’3 6’3 2020 for Sheldon was the most athletic player on the court. Brown has incredible hops. He had two crowd pleasing dunks to go with his 12 pts. He’s a big time defender, he made the going tough on Roy for good parts of the game. A player not known for his offense, he nailed a big time 3 in the corner with 41 seconds left.

Devon Jackson 6’1 2020 guard for Dublin proved to be a problem for Sheldon. The athletic Jackson had several dribble drives acrobatic finishes from the baseline and wings to get by Sheldon’s long armed defenders. He led Dublin with 18 pts.

[player_tooltip player_id="603820" first="Jaden" last="Saunders"] 5’9 pt guard for Dublin was the ultimate floor leader for Dublin. He was the player that was most important to Dublin’s game plan, of patience on offense and making Sheldon defend. He constantly drove past defenders with the shot clock winding down to find open shooters for corner 3’s or no look passes to cutters. 10 pts, 7 assists.

Malik Jackson 6’4 2020 for Dublin once again showed how good of a player he can be. He showed his versatility by drawing defenders away from the basket and using his quickness to go by Sheldon defenders. His ability to handle the ball in the open court helped Dublin get needed baskets throughout the game. He battled for rebounds and, was a solid defender in this game. He scored 11 points, 7 rebs.
