Wichita Collegiate defeated Colby (56-48); Beloit defeated Nemaha Central (51-43).
The Kansas High School Activities Association announced on Thursday the remaining state tournament games will not be played.
Kurtis Beck, 6’3, F, 2022, Nemaha Central
He can score in fast break situations. Beck has good speed and gets up the floor quickly and can finish around the rim on second chance looks and plays by design. He stays active as a defender and shows a good upside giving his productivity and his age. Beck had eight points in the loss to Beloit.
Marcus Beck, 6’4, F, 2022, Nemaha Central
The only Central player in double digits against Beloit with 11 points. Beck is a strong presence inside who can block shots and rebound well on defense. He’s long and athletic and can handle the ball and bring it up the floor if he needs to. Also a scoring option inside who can clean up plays around the basket.
Fredrick Criqui, 6’5, F, 2022, St. Mary’s
A good sized two-way player who has great height and length. He’s a strong player inside and has a good ceiling for his age. Criqui works hard around the basket and has good speed and can handle the ball some and rebound. He scored some and ended the game with seven points.
Jack Duarte, 6’3, G/F, 2022, Wichita Collegiate
Another strong sophomore who has good strength and is good at inside-out play which allows him to see time in a variety of positions. He looks to defend wing players who create with their dribble but can also switch out on guards and see time inside given his height and speed and overall activity.
Wesley Fair, 6’1, G, 2023, Wichita Collegiate
An athletic player who can run the floor and compete inside some. Fair has solid athleticism and is a good defensive pressure who also adds good speed and strength. He can score in transition and is good at getting back on defense and switching out on opponents.
Brett Sarwinski, 5’10, G, 2022, Galena
A sophomore standout who looks to make plays anywhere he can on the floor. He is an impressive defensive player who is physical and is great at coming away with the ball and getting open looks on the opposite side. He can score in a variety of ways inside and out and is also a great passer and a team-first performer. Sarwinski had 15 points, five assists and seven steals in their win over Burlington.
Hunter Vaughn, 5’9, G, 2023, Colby
A nice young player for Colby who can drive and attack the basket well. He has good handles for his age and is learning his place in the team’s offense and is quick and creative with the ball. He can also defend on the perimeter some and knock down some shots.
