After multiple visits, Jack Bailey already knew where he wanted to further his academic and athletic career. The University of Puget Sound is getting a player who gets it done both in the classroom and on the court.
Bailey is arguably one of the best shooters on the west coast. Prior to his senior year, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard exploded during the summer with West Coast Elite which led into a great senior year. “We are a completely new team and my role has completely expanded. I’ve been playing well since the summer and all my coaches did an amazing job getting my name out there”. The hard work paid off and his recruitment blew up.
With multiple schools from the east and west coast showing heavy interest on this playmaking guard, Jack felt at home during his visits to the UPS. Bailey was also in close contact with the head coaches at Pacific University and Geoge Fox but after bonding with future teammates and coaching staff in person, it was a no brainer to make it official when the opportunity came forward.
“The academics is just awesome and the exercise science program is great. I enjoyed my time hanging out with the players and playing with them during the open gym. I also attended several games and I just loved the chemistry that the team displayed and you can really see how much they enjoy playing with each other which was really big for me. I have a great relationship with the coaches and I love the way that Coach Sheldon coaches”, said Bailey.
A senior who embraced his new role during last season at Rancho Buena Vista, Bailey did not shy away from the moment. Bailey, who recently was honored with a 1st Team All Avocado East League award, it was no surprise that he proved he play with the best competition throughout the season.
The captain was vital for the Longhorns, carrying a big load of the offense. Bailey averaged 15.8 points per game while grabbing 5.8 rebounds and dishing out 1.4 assists. Jack has a great touch and can scorch the net as he displayed putting up big numbers with multiple 20 points games and a season-high 31 points.
Although Bailey has exceptional skills, he is not satisfied and is determined to make quality developments in all aspects of his game before heading to Tacoma Washington. “I want to continue to get stronger, faster and quick to adjust with the college level. The pace is already way faster and I just want to be ready as a freshman”, said Bailey.
A developed leader and proven winner, Bailey looks to continue to strive for higher goals on and off the court. The Loggers play a very high-level basketball in the Northwest Conference and Bailey hopes to be a valuable spark for the University of Puget Sound during his four years there.
