The streak continues for South Granville
The South Granville Vikings got a big 87-57 victory over the J.F. Webb Warriors to get their 17th straight win of the 2019-20 season. Things were tight in the early going as Webb kept pace with the home team in front of a packed house. In the second quarter though, South Granville created some space with a 20-9 outburst to lead 40-27 at halftime. At the break, 2021 guard Bobby Pettiford Jr. led the way for the Vikings with 16 points. 2022 wing Collin Tanner put up nine points off the bench.
South Granville pours it on in the third quarter
In the third quarter, it seemed like the lead just kept blossoming for the Vikings as it was another outburst on offense for them. They outscored the Warriors 25-12 led by an onslaught by Pettiford and Tanner once again to lead 65-39 after three frames of play. Pettiford led the way with 26 points along with two made 3-pointers as they ran away things 87-57 in the end.
Collin Tanner plays big off the bench
2022 Collin Tanner was the game’s X-Factor off the bench with 28 points and six made 3-pointers. Tanner hit some big shots early when the team was down 8-0 to get them back into and it carried over into the second half, where he put up 19 points, to boost the offensive attack for South Granville. It took awhile for the Vikings to get going early in the game but Tanner stepped up to provide a lift in key moments.
Allen continues to own the boards
2020 forward Wy’kise Allen finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the victory for the Vikings. He played well on the boards, securing his seventh double of the season and third in a row as the end of conference play approaches. He dished out five assists as well. He’s an unsigned senior that continues to impress with his ability to make an impact on the floor. He also took two charges in the contest.
