McClintock defeated North Canyon 53-45 earlier in the week in Tempe in 5A hoops. The Chargers led nearly the majority of the game, and even though it got close at the end, were able to close the game with a victory.

Here are a few of the players that stood out:

Chance Garland - McClintock

Garland showed an all-around scoring ability, as he was getting buckets from all parts of the floor. He hit several clutch threes, and threw down a beautiful alley-oop in the second half that got the bench on its feet.

Armani Williams - McClintock

Williams got his production from his hustle and athleticism. He never shied away from driving to the hoop on offense, and was always moving his feet well on the other end. He struggled early to score, but it eventually came back to him some, and he never let that slump hurt the other aspects of his game.

Jaylen Wesley - McClintock

He tied for the lead in points scored, but what stood out was his versatility on defense. He was able to hassle opposing ballhandlers, whether they were bigger or significantly smaller than him. He came up with several big steals and rebounds after solid defensive possessions.

Sean McCants - North Canyon

The Rattlers struggled to score against a good defense in the Chargers, but he shot his jumper well from both mid-range on step backs and from behind the arc for threes, and kept his team in the game.
