The third quarter Victory Christian took over the game and left very little hope for the Longhorns to get back into the game as they led 46-24. Inola played with some fight in the fourth quarter but they could not overcome the 22 point deficit as they fell 57-40.
Takeaways
Ball Movement
Victory Christian opened up the game really hot from the floor. They were moving the ball fast on the offensive end of the court and they were getting easy open shots. They were playing unselfish basketball and always trying to find the better shot if it were available. They were working the ball inside to out with taking as few dribbles as they could.
Inola’s Fight
Inola fell down early in the game against Victory but they never played like it. They did not give up and they made use of every possession by learning and playing hard. They got good reps inside their offense and it led to small runs and confidence gained. They trailed by as much as 24 at one point but they kept chipping away and getting valuable experience on the court.
Players to Know
Joshua Udoumoh 2022 Victory Christian Guard
Udoumoh was fun to watch for the Conquerors. He played fast and loose. He just looked like he was having fun and the game was just naturally coming to him. He found his range when he was able to spot up from the perimeter with space. The ball movement from Victory Christian is what was finding Udoumoh so wide open. He was also able to attack the basket and find lanes to get easy buckets at the rim. Udoumoh finished the game with 18 points.
Gabriel Calhoon 2021 Victory Christian Wing
Calhoon was not a flashy player for the Conquerors but he seemed to be where he needed to be. He did the little things in the game like boxing out and grabbing rebounds. He played hard and had his fundamentals down. He also showed an ability to score in the paint and create second chance points with his rebounding ability. Calhoon finished the game with six points.
Tuff Jones 2020 Inola Guard
Jones has performed all tournament long. He was the most consistent performer on a Longhorn team that seems to lack a star. The Longhorns have a lot of good players but none of the stick out head and shoulders above the rest. Jones seems like the player that is most like to get there as he performed throughout the tournament. Jones’ strong suit is his ability to shoot the ball from deep. He was able to knock down his shots when he found space and was able to set his feet. Jones finished the game with a game high 19 points.
