Many of the top teams on the West Coast were invited plus some out of area top-tier teams.
Here were some of the junior standouts from the West Coast, which included some top-10 players in the class:
Jaden Hardy CG 6’4 Coronado (NV) (ranked #10)
-Nationally ranked scoring guard didn’t disappoint. He has a unique ability to create his own shot with a tight handle. Has deep 3pt range and is an exceptional passer when he is looking to set up his teammates. He has good length and will fill in some more. He is able to defend other good guards with quick lateral movement. His range, body control, passing and good size make him a high level target.
Hardy is an effortless scorer.Mike Foster PF 6’8 Hillcrest Prep (ranked #8)
-Amazing specimen with a college body and big time athleticism and length. He can make 3pt shots, loves his Dirk move off of one foot in the high post. He is a very good rebounder and shot blocker when he is engaged. He has a runner he can utilize and makes tough shots in traffic. Has the physical gifts to be a PRO but his mental part of the game has to catch up.
DaRon Holmes PF 6’8 Millennium
-A lean talented defensive forward type who has really improved his jumper. Can comfortably make 3’s and pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. He defends really well in space and can cover all 5 positions. He rebounds well on both ends of the court and blocks shots at a good rate. He is a good athlete and can work on his fluidity with the ball in his hands.
Keon Edwards SF 6’6 Hillcrest Prep
-A long defensive wing. He can hit the mid-range pull-up off the dribble and euro his way to the basket. He is a good defender using his big wingspan and has good activity. He rebounds well on both ends of the court and you will rarely ever see him take a bad shot.
Justus Jackson PG 6’0 Millennium (Pictured)
-Scoring lead guard with NBA 3pt range. Has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. He can take contact in lane and score it. Likes to pull-up from mid-range is where he feels most comfortable. He hesitates smartly to get into the lane and is more athletic than he appears and can play above the rim on the break. He keeps impressing on big stages.
Duke Brennan C 6’9 Perry
-Brennan is putting together a good HS season for himself early on. He is a very physical post player who is an excellent rebounder. With all the size that Mater Dei brought, he out-rebounded most of them. He has good hands and is improving his ability to score. He is more patient and uses his body and length to get his shots over his opponents.
Kobe Stroughter CG 6’1 Liberty (NV)
-Scoring combo guard can really shoot it and can make good passes. Plays on or off the ball and is a knockdown catch shooter. Without Strawther next year he should handle the ball more. He is super quick guard and Coach Berg thinks he will break out next year.
