Millennium comes in at #1 in our most recent All-State Power Rankings. No one has played the level of competition that Millennium has. Most impressively, Millennium battled and competed with national powerhouse, Sierra Canyon. Millennium remains the top team in the state.
#2 Skyline (6A) 9-1
Skyline comes in at #2 after jumping to the #1 spot in 6A. Skyline should be undefeated but due to forfeit, they are not. They have beaten some very talented teams as well and should win out the rest of their season. Skyline is the front runner in 6A.
#3 Desert Vista (6A) 8-1
Closely behind Skyline is Desert Vista. Desert Vista has had a great season so far expect for losing to Boulder Creek. This loss dropped them in the rankings. However, I expect Desert Vista to bounce back and compete for these top spots going forward. Most recently, they beat St. Mary’s, one of the top teams in 4A and featured in this list as well.
#4 Sunnyslope (5A) 8-1
I think Slope could be very good this season and if anyone is going to take down Millennium, I think Slope has the best chance due to their great size in their front court and back court. Their most impressive win came against Ironwood, who they face once again this week. Slope has a gauntlet of a week, playing Millennium and Ironwood.
#5 Salpointe Catholic (4A) 9-0
Salpointe Catholic comes in at the #5 spot. They are without a doubt, the top team in 4A. However, 4A isn’t very competitive and they haven’t really played anyone super note worthy. This is why you see Salpointe Catholic this low, despite being undefeated and being the top seed in 4A.
#6 Ironwood (5A) 9-1
Ironwood comes in at #6. Their only loss came against Sunnyslope and since then they have been mopping the floor against anyone in their way. Ironwood has a chance to avenge their loss this week, as they take on Slope once again.
#7 Gilbert (5A) 7-1
Gilbert is a great team and are super talented. They have beaten some great teams so far! So why are they this low on the list? I just think that the other team’s are more talented and would win if they faced off. No disrespect to Gilbert as they have turned in a great season so far when no one thought they’d be this good again. Keep it up and you’ll see them rise in the rankings.
#8 St. Mary’s (4A) 5-1
St. Mary’s is a very good and young team. They have a very bright future ahead of them. They come in this low on the list for virtually the same reasons that Salpointe Catholic came in so low in the all-state rankings.
#9 Chandler (6A) 9-2
Chandler has played very well this far in the season. They have two losses so far, which drops them in the all-state rankings. One game could make the difference in these rankings. However, Chandler could jump up in the rankings once Broady comes back.
#10 Perry (6A) 7-2
Perry rounds out the list at the #10 spot. Perry is a very good team and they have great size as well. Dylan Anderson has been playing on another level. They come in at #10 because I think they lack the depth of some of these other teams above them.
