4A Power Rankings

<p>This is our last power rankings update for 2019! Wishing everyone Happy Holidays and a happy New Year! Let’s see who finishes in the top 5 for 2019!</p> <p><strong>#1 Salpointe Catholic 4-0</strong></p> <p>Salpointe Catholic once again comes in at the #1 spot. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I doubt this team will drop from the #1 spot in the power rankings. Evan Nelson is looking better than ever and looks hungry for a state title. </p> <p><b>#2 Catalina Foothills 7-0</b></p> <p>Catalina Foothills comes in at a close second, jumping St. Mary’s. I battled between giving St. Mary’s or Catalina Foothills the 2 spot but ended up going with Catalina Foothills because they are playing at such a high level this season. </p> <p><b>#3 St. Mary’s 6-1</b></p> <p>St. Mary’s comes in at #3. As mentioned before, I almost put St. Mary’s at #2 again. They have been in the 2 spot for most of the season thus far. They could easily jump back to the 2 spot. Their only loss has come to one of the best teams in 6A, Desert Vista. St. Mary’s remains one of the most talented and deep teams in 4A.</p> <p><b>#4 Arcadia 5-0</b></p> <p>Arcadia makes their debut in the top 5, behind the play of Max Majerle and Owen Shaw. Coming into the season, I thought this junior pairing could do some damage and so far they have done just that. We’ll have to wait and see how far Arcadia can go behind their dynamic duo. </p> <p><b>#5 Peoria 6-0</b></p> <p>Peoria rounds out the list and I also battled between putting them at the number 4 or 5 spot. Peoria has 4 players that are averaging double digit points: 2020 Isaac Monroe (16.0), 2023 Andrew Camacho (13.5), 2021 Kevin Kobara (10.8), and 2020 DeAndre Petty (12.5). This team can definitely score the ball and I think it’s really impressive how Camacho has come in, as a freshman, and really made an impact for their squad. </p>
